2 L-4534 MFS/MFD w/ HY-TRAX Installation Guide Tools Required: Large Straight Slot Screwdriver Small Straight Slot Screwdriver for Electrical Connections 8 Wire Ties Tape Measure Wire Cutters/Strippers 7/16, 1/2, and 9/16 Wrenches 2 Large Crescent Wrenches Small Crescent Wrench Step 1 Remove both the suction and discharge hoses from the cart. This will provide easier access to remove the filter cart handle/pump assembly. To do this, remove the two 9/16 bolts that connect the motor to the pump. They are located directly underneath the AC motor (Figures 1A & 1B). Access is tight on the forward mounting bolt. You will have to go from each side of the cart to fully loosen. An overhead lifting hoist can be used to raise the handle motor assembly. If a lift is not available you will need two (2) additional persons to slightly lift the assembly to remove the forward bolt completely. Once the bolts are removed, set the handle motor assembly aside. Figure 1A Figure 1B 2 En Schroeder Industries

3 Installation Guide MFS/MFD w/ HY-TRAX L-4534 Step 2 Install the two fittings/hoses into the manifold as shown in (Figure 2). Do not fully tighten the fittings into the manifold at this time. Tighten the hoses onto the fittings. Short hose (TCM suction hose) attaches on the right hand side (facing the cart from the rear). This hose will connect to the fitting closest to the cart pump. The long hose (TCM Discharge) will attach to the fitting closest to the filters on the left hand side. Long TCM Discharge Hose Short TCM Suction Hose Figure 2 Schroeder Industries En 3

4 L-4534 MFS/MFD w/ HY-TRAX Installation Guide Step 3 Remove the four bolts holding the AC motor to the handle assembly as shown in (Figure 3A) and discard the bolts. Figure 3A Set the HY-TRAX bracket to the handle assembly. Carefully line up with the four (4) holes. Figure 3B Place motor on top of the HY-TRAX mount and line up with all the holes. Fasten with four 7/16 x.75 fasteners (supplied with the kit) on top of existing handle assembly. The new bolts will be placed through the motor and HY-TRAX mount, then mounted through the original motor mount plate. Check to make sure the motor is straight in reference to the cart handle. 5 Installation Guide MFS/MFD w/ HY-TRAX L-4534 Step 4 Carefully align the motor shaft keyway with the pump shaft and key as shown (Figure 4A) and slowly lower the motor shaft onto the pump shaft. The forward bolt will need to be started before setting the motor fully into the keyway. Tighten both the motor and coupling bolts using a 9/16 Wrench. Align the hose fittings so that the hoses do not rub on the motor or the bracket. Figure 4A You may now tighten the newly installed manifold fittings using a 9/16 Wrench. Connect the short hose (TCM Suction) to bottom port of the HY-TRAX manifold and the longer hose (TCM Discharge) to top port. Route the longer hose as shown in (Figure 4B). Connect the short hose directly to the strainer mounted on the HY-TRAX manifold shown in (Figure 4C) Figure 4B Figure 4C Schroeder Industries En 5

6 L-4534 MFS/MFD w/ HY-TRAX Installation Guide Step 5 The cart motor power cable can now either plug into the newly installed HY-TRAX Control Panel (socket) or wired directly into the control panel. If you are NOT wiring directly into the motor, skip Step 6. Step 6 You will need to shorten the existing AC motor cable. The motor cable will be routed to control box for direct wire connection. Measure 60 from the motor and cut the cable. Strip the sheathing to expose 6 of the wires and strip the ends as shown in (Figure 6A). Route the power cable down under between motor and bracket as shown in and back to the control panel as shown in (Figure 6B). 110 VAC wire connections are shown in (Figure 6C). 7 Installation Guide MFS/MFD w/ HY-TRAX L-4534 Step 7 Feed the yellow sampling pump power cable and black TCM power cable from the controller through the 1.5 hole in the bracket (Figure 7). Connect the sampling pump and TCM power cords. Pay careful attention to align the tabs in the M12 connectors while making connections. Secure the cable and hoses with wire ties. Re-Install filter carts suction hose removed in Step 1 Figure 7 The Kit comes with two (2) push button bleed fittings. Unscrew the bleed fitting located on each filter cap and install the push bleed fittings. Schroeder Industries En 7

8 L-4534 MFS/MFD w/ HY-TRAX Installation Guide Step 8 Please fully read the user s manual before operating the HY-TRAX filter cart. The cart is ready to be powered on. Place the wand into a reservoir and power up the cart using the switch mounted to the motor. Bleed the filter housing of air and allow the cart to operate for 5 minutes. Check each fitting for leaks and tighten if leaks are noticed. Step 9 After 5 minutes with the main pump operating, the HY-TRAX can be powered on using the rotary switch on the control panel. The pressure gauge mounted to the HY-TRAX manifold should rise to approximately psi. Verify flow rates to the TestMate Contamination Monitor (TCM). To verify flow rates, press the right arrow key until the TCM flow light is activated (under the Flow Setting). Confirm flow rate is OK - or OK. The flow control valve located on the HY-TRAX manifold can be adjusted to obtain an OK - flow rate reading. Counterclockwise adjustment lowers flow rate, clockwise adjustment raises the flow rate. Once flow rates are set to OK -, scroll left to visually see current ISO code reading.
