6 2.0.0 Module Information Transport and storage (packing and unpacking) CAUTION The LM 32 module is packed in the original cardbord box, if the module is not handled properly it may fall out of the box when unpacking and cause injuries to limbs or squeeze your fingers. LM 32 NOTE These Montage Instructions should be read carefully before carrying out any activity on or with the LM module. 7 2.1.1 Mounting variants for the LM 32 Module Installation of base body from (M6 Thread) Mounting plates on the front, Grid: 48x48 mm, Holes: 4x 6,5 mm (for M6 cylinder screw) see Mass Drawing.

8 2.1.2 Mounting variants for the module LM 32 The mounting position is freely selectable Mounting for the modules (centering bushings). The LM-Linear modules can be installed in the horizontal or vertical position. NOTE Safety instructions Modifications on the LM 32 module that are not described in these Montage Instructions or have not been approved in writing by Afag Automation AG are not permitted. 14 3.1.3 Functional Description The LM 32 linear module is a pneumatically driven appliance for longitudinal motions of 0 to 400 mm stroke. All modules are delivered ready for installation according to customer order. A double acting pneumatic piston (1) drives the longitudinal stroke. Two guide shafts (2) led through the housing (3) by lifetime lubricated bearing bushes, connect the front (4) and back (5) plates. The infinitely variable stops (6) limit the stroke. Afag shock absorbers (7) buffer the end of stroke. Included in the delivery: Pos. 15 3.1.4 Designated use The series of the linear module LM 32 is used for the linear movement of rigidly mounted loads in non-explosions harzadous ambient and operating conditions that are specified for this module; see catalogue technical.. NOTE These Montage Instructions should be read carefully before carrying out any activity on or with the module. The module may only be used in accordance with intended purpose. Modification on the module that are not described in these Montage Instructions or have not been approved in writing by Afag are not permitted. In case of inexpert changes or improper assembly, installation, operation, maintenance or repairs, Afag rejects all liability. CAUTION Connection of compressed air and operation of pneumatic systems may cause unpredictable movements which may. Result in personal injuri or damage to property. Use the linear module under the following conditions are maintenance free: - Cleaning workshop atmosphere - No water spray - No output or process dusts and fumes - Ambient conditions according to technical catalog

16 3.1.5 Guarantee The module is designed for 40 million load alternations* under the ambient conditions and conditions of use defined for this module, see catalogue. Wearing parts (shock absorbers and stop screws) are excluded from the guarantee. The guarantee includes repair or replacement of faulty Afag parts. *whichever cornes frist When repairs are carried out by the customer without prior training or instruction by Afag AG the warranty will become void. Any additional claims are excluded Areas of application The Linear modules are exclusively for the linear movement in any position of payloads at the forehead to record maximum 2-8 kg (LM 20) and 4-9 kg (LM 25) designed, (see technical data). They can also be used in combination with other modules than Pick and Place machines, the permissible load capacities should, however, not be exceeded. Any other use is regarded as inadequate. NOTE The manufacturer does not accept any liability for damage resulting from such use. The risk is that of the user alone. Intended use also includes paying attention to the Montage Instructions and observing the maintenance and repair instructions specified by manufacturer. The Linear module LM 32 may only be operated and serviced by correspondingly trained personnel who have also profound knowledge of the dangers. 20 3.2.0 Function of the module linear LM 32 The LM 32 linear module is a pneumatically driven appliance for longitudinal motions of 0 to 400 mm stroke. 22 3.2.3 Function specification for the ZA 32 A double acting pneumatic piston (8), coupled with the shock absorber (9) performs the vertical stroke. If the piston (8) is in the upper position, the stop crew (10) hits the shock absorber (9) and initiates the intermediate position. Make sure that there are no persons or tools within the operative range oft he module. Carry out a test run - First of all with slow travel movements, - Afterwards undr operating conditions Preparation for initial start up Before commissioning first set the stop screw and then the shock absorbers. CAUTION An LM is a precise mechanical unit and must be handled with the necessary care and cleanliness during transport and storage as well s when handling, setting and assembling.

24 3.2.6 Stroke adjustment The stroke length of the LM can be adjusted with stop screws Stop crew setting AS 12/60 These stop screws can be combined with a proximity switch holder and proximity switch 6,5 mm or with an angle proximity switch holder and 8x8 mm proximity switch for end of travel interrogation. 1. Remove the bottom protection cover (1). Loosen the screws (2) and remove screw (3). Pull the protection cover (4) upward and remove. 2. Loosen the lock screws (7/8) and screw out both shock absorbers (5,6) 5 turns in anti-clockwise direction. 3. Apply compressed air to P1. The carriage (9) slides as far as the limit determined by the stop screw (10). 4. Loosen the lock screw (11). Set the rear position X of the stroke H by adjusting the stop screw (10) and secure with lock screw (11). (one turn=1mm stroke) 5. Apply compressed air to P2. The carriage (9) slides as far as the limit determined by the stop screw (12). 6. Loosen the lock screw (13). 27 Shock absorbers SD 14/16 To maintain a smoth stroke movement (H) of the LM the stroke against the stop screws (1-2) is absorbed by means of Afag shock absorbers (3,4). Adjusting shock absorbers 1. Adjust the stroke (H) according. 2. Apply compressed air to (P1). The carriage (5) of the LM move against the stop screw (1) in position (X). 3. Screw in the shock absorber (3) in clockwise direction until the carriage (5) begins to move. (The shock absorber pin (6) is pushed into the shock absorber. 4. Screw out the shock absorber (3) two turns in anticlockwise direction and secure with lock screw (7*). (One turn=1mm travel) 5. Apply compressed air to (P2). The carriage (5) moves against stop screw (2) in position (X1). 6. Repeat the adjustments according point 3-4 with shock absorber (4) and secure with the lock screw (8). CAUTION The stop screws (1-2) and not the shock absorber (3,4) must limit the stroke (H)! If the shock absorbers are used as stops, they may be damaged and become unusable.

28 Assembly the intermediate stop ZA 32 Intermediate stop ZA 32 The intermediate stop is an additional module for the linear module LM 32. The intermediate stop is used when in intermediate position within the stroke area of the LM is required. The symmetrical design of the intermediate stop ZA 32 allows four precise intermediate positions. Each position is damped and proximity switch acknowledgeable. CAUTION If the ZA 32, on the front the LM 32 assembled, and no additional hand protection (1) mountable. 30 3.2.9 Mounting for ZA 32 The symmetrical design of the intermediate stop ZA 32 allows four precise intermediate positions Adjusting the intermediate stop ZA 32 (Example. back)) 1. Mount the intermediate positions module ZA 32 (1) and the back stop screw module (2) on the LM 32 module. 2. Choose the location of the proximity switches (3) (top/bottom or front) slide de proximity switches (3) to obtain the correct position. A LED shows when proper contact is made. Loosen the lock nut (8) an screw in or screw out the stop screw (7) to obtain the desired intermediate position. When done, secure with lock nut (8). 6. Mount the safety cover (9) and perform a functional check. NOTE It is recommended to always use the shortest possible stop screw. 32 3.3.1 Proximity switches assembly To end the query LM are plug and screw 6,5 mm (1) or 8x8 mm (2) with proximity switch and proximity holder (3) used. (These are not included). The 6.5 mm and 8x8 mm proximity switches may be used only with the intermediate stop of the series AS screws can be used. 36 4.0.0 Maintenance Instructions Maintenance The LM 32 is lifetime lubricated it can be operated with oiled or oil-free air. CAUTION Under no circumstances must the LM be operated with oiled air before operating with oil-free air! Air specification: Dry (free of condensation) Filtered (40um filter for oiled air) Filtered (5 um filter oil-free air) If the LM is to be operated with oiled air, then we recommend the following oils:: Festo Special oil Avia Avilub RSL 10 BP Energol HPL 10 Esso Spinesso 10 Shell Tellus Oel C 10 Mobil DTE 21 Blaser Blasol 154 Amount of oil: 5-10 drops of oil per 1000 l air Viscosity range: 9 to 11 mm2/s (= cst) at 40 C, ISO-class VG 10 according to ISO 3448 Apart from normal machine cleaning work, no further measures are necessary for maintenance. Special operations Module CAUTION Module inserts for ionized air environments (e.g. in case of high-voltage procedure such has corona processes). 37 4.1.1 Operating conditions (maintenance and care) When connecting compressed air for the first time make sure that all air chokes are closed. Ventilate the system slowly. 39 4.1.5 Disassembly and repair When the module is damaged it can be returned to Afag AG for repair. CAUTION The module may only be disassembled when the system is ventilated and deactivated. If pneumatic connections are disconnected when they are under pressure, this may result in serious personal injury owing to fast movements of moving parts. When can the modules be repaired by the customer? Wearing parts can be exchanged by the customer itself when the guarantee has expired. NOTE All the other faulty parts must exclusively be replaced by company Afag AG! When the customer detects that the respective module is still under guarantee? - He returns the module to company Afag AG for repair. - If the guarantee has already expired, the customer must decide whether he repairs the module himself and orders the wearing parts kit or whether he returns the module to company Afag AG for repair. NOTE The Afag offers a reliable repair service. Note that Afag no guarantee of modules can take over what the company does not furch Afag Automation AG have been repaired. -

41 Exchanging wearing parts on the LM32 When you change the parts wear, we recommend that you wear all the parts simultaneously and carefully to change, so that the functional parts are not damaged. Disassembly: 1. Screw (20) solve connection protection rmove 2. Screws (17) on the intermediate part (1) front and rear solve end remove 3. Screws (18 and 19) to solve 4. Remove the back plate 5. Plate front with piston rod and leadership (3) and command block from the intermediate part pull. 6. Cylindrical tube of the piston rod (3) pull away 7. Backup Rings (21) to remove the piston rod 8. Pistons deport 9. Front Plate (7) with the piston (3) and guide rod (4) keeping the block (1) exit. 10. Command block from the command- (4) and piston rod (3) deport. 11. Wear parts on the piston (6) rmove and clean the pistons 12. O-Rings and rod seal (10) in the management blocks (1) remove 13. O-Ringe (12) leaderdship from the blocks (1) remove 14. Linear ball bearings from the command blocks gently squeeze 15. All individual parts clean Wear parts replacement: 1. Guide Ring (14) for Piston (6) with the side cutter to cut 1 mm 2. Guide Ring (14) on piston (6) Carefully assemble 3. O-Ring seals and pistons (11) to gently press planger (6) to slide. (Seal does not violate). 4. Linear Bearings (15) with grease Blasolube 301, followed by careful management in the two blocks (1) injection (fluhs front)! Note: the sealing lip of the linear ball bearing (15) must demonstrate to the outside. 5. Rod seals and O-ring (10) on both careful management blocks in the grooves of the piston rod seal use 6.
