3 Disclaimer Portable Fume Collecr Although instructions and recommendations are included for installation of your Small Portable Cartridge Collecr, SPC-800, manufacturer does not assume responsibility for installation of this equipment nor shall he be held liable for direct or consequential damages resulting from improper installation, application, maintenance or use. The immense variety of contaminants make it impossible list all of potential hazards that may be encountered with air pollution control systems. It is refore important that application of equipment be discussed with an AER Control Systems representative or application engineer prior use. Additionally, users should consult and comply with all National and Local Fire, Electrical and /or or appropriate codes when determining application, location and operation of any air pollution control equipment. Collection of combustible or explosive materials and collection on flame or spark-generating operations may require specific system configurations (contact AER Control Systems LLC. Applications Engineering Department for questions and/or design assistance). The combined collection of combustible or explosive materials and contaminants from spark or flame generating operations, with a common collecr or duct system, is not recommended, unless special design provisions have been made system (sparks or flames resulting from such operations may ignite combustible or explosive material). Under no circumstances should anyone be allowed discard a lighted cigarette, or burning materials, or refuse in an inlet hood or duct of collection system. It is responsibility of end user comply with all applicable national, state, and local fire and safety codes. This manual should be read completely before attempting Operation or Maintenance of this equipment. All work should be performed by qualified personnel according local requirements. 4 SECTION 1 Portable Fume Collecr Uncrating 1. Remove banding and cardboard shipping carn and packing. 2. Extraction Arm is typically labeled and packed with unit be installed, Mount ing hardware is included for mounting arm. Be sure check all boxes for any miscellaneous parts or hardware items before discarding. 3. Inspect exterior of unit and accessories for shipping damage or shortages that may not have been noticed or recorded when shipment was initially received; you have 30 days notify AER Control Systems LLC. of any discrepancies. Contact shipping company if any damage or shortages have occurred. Description & Operation The Portable Fume Collecr, PFC-800 consists of a vertically mounted filter cabinet which houses a metal mesh spark filter and a cartridge filter. The cartridge has a filter media pack of 2 inch pleated media and is formed in shape of a hollow cylinder. The interior of cartridge cylinder is open dirty contaminant fume. Cleaning of cartridge filter is accomplished by removing filter and eir dump fume in a disposal container or vacuum out inside of filter via an industrial shop vacuum. The mor/blower cabinet is located on clean air side of filter which is on botm of unit and provides airflow for collection system. 5 SECTION 2 Portable Fume Collecr Applications - General 1. Dust & Fume - The Portable Fume Collecr, PFC-800 is designed for capture and removal of DRY dust and/or fumes generated from sanding, grinding, welding and or industrial processes. The unit can be equipped with a variety of pre-filters, metal mesh spark filter is standard and specialized filters for application specific filtration requirements. Optional add-on filters are available including HEPA and Activated Carbon for odors. 2. Size - It is important that proper size unit has been selected for application. Too little airflow will not draw contaminant in filter and unit will not be completely effective. Too much airflow may result in loss of efficiency or unit will pick up large or heavy solid particles increasing frequency of maintenance or filter replacement. Questions regarding proper unit sizing should be directed your local AER Control Systems representative or main office (ll free ) 3. Models - Model codes are utilized identify various unit configurations available. The model PFC (Portable Fume Collecr) uses a direct drive blower (sometimes called a plug fan) along with number 800. The 800 unit has a 1.0 HP direct drive mor and has one cartridge filter. 4. Portable - The PFC-800 has four 3 tal lock casters for portability and an on/off switch and power cord.

6 SECTION 3 Portable Fume Collecr Installation Assembly & Installation PFC-800 Standard Collecrs are pre-assembled for PFC-800 with exception extraction arm. The assembly of extraction arm consists of removing all parts from box. 1. Bend arm out until angle between arms is 45 degrees. 2. Mount swivel base surface you are bolting by using six M6 metric bolts, washers. 3. Adjust tension of arm per enclosed instructions. The collecr will be pre-wired an ON/OFF switch and power cord for 115 volts 1 phase (unless orwise specified on purchase order). Suitable overload protection is required protect mor, a correctly sized circuit breaker is fine. Refer electrical section. 7 SECTION 3 Portable Fume Collecr Installation continued Electrical The standard collecr is wired for 115 volt, single phase with a switch and cord. Threephase units are wired for input voltage specified on purchase order. Unless specified orwise, standard units are wired for 460 volt, 3 phase, 60 Hz operation. Mors used on PFC-800 collecrs are UL recognized and internal wiring is UL rated at 600-volts. Input power line protection is required for mor and electrical components. Line load and current requirements are identified on mor nameplate. Unless ordered with machine, power switch for operating machine, any fusible disconnect, mor starter or controller are be provided by cusmer/user and located externally machine. After electrical hook up it is important verify that fan rotation is correct. Incorrect rotation results in much lower airflow and increased noise. For standard three phase installations, changing connections of any two of three input power lines will usually reverse fan rotation. Rotation direction can be found on side and/or back of mor. If it becomes necessary change input voltage, wiring diagram on mor and transformer nameplates show appropriate wire connections - se diagrams are also shown below: Figure 1 - Mor & Transformer Connection Diagram NOTE A mor starter with overload protection must be provided by User. Thermal overload heaters are installed in external mor starter. Consult starter manufacturer for recommended heater size for installed mor.

8 SECTION 5 Maintenance Operation & Maintenance Lubrication or or routine periodic preventative maintenance is not required. All that is needed is an occasional check of fasteners, hoses and clamps and an overall visual check of unit. Periodic replacement of cartridges is required when necessary. Always empty dust drawer before it fills completely. Do NOT allow dust collect point where it begins uch botm of cartridge filter, since this would result in dust being re-entered in air stream, re-depositing on cartridge and shortening ir life. Cartridge Replacement PFC-800 The pressure drop across cartridge will eventually reach a point at which airflow and suction are o low. At this time, cartridge should be replaced as follows: 1. Shut off electrical power blower by unplugging electrical cord. 2. Open cartridge access door on front of filter cartridge module using four quarter turn latches. 3. The cartridge mount plate is attached via 1/4-20 hardware, a 7/16 socket wrench is required remove four bolts on underside of cartridge mount plate. 4. Slide cartridge and mount plate out on rail by grabbing cartidge and pulling it ward you. Remove cartridge by un-screwing knob under filter, cartridge filter is held in place via a threaded rod. Clean, inspect or replace. 5. Reinstall cartridge by repeating above steps in reverse order and slide cartridge in cabinet on rail and bolt mount plate back in place. 6. Install cartridge access door using four quarter turn latches.

11 Limited Warranty AER Control Systems LLC warrants all products sold only purchasers for use in business or for resale, against defects in workmanship or materials under normal use, for one (1) year after date of purchase from AER Control Systems LLC. Misapplication of product, decomposition by reaction or chemical action and wear caused by abrasion will not constitute, or be considered as a defect. Warranty is void if product has been subject damage, unreasonable use, neglect, improper service, improper installation, or or causes not arising from defects in original materials or workmanship. Any part that is determined be defective in material or workmanship and returned an AER Control Systems LLC distribur or authorized service facility, as AER Control Systems LLC designates, shipping costs prepaid, will be, as exclusive remedy, repaired or replaced at AER Control Systems LLC s option. AER Control Systems LLC shall not be liable for any incidental or consequential cost, expenses, or damages resulting from any failure, defect, or malfunction of this product, liability is expressly disclaimed.
