2 Electrical Connection Systems Product Description Material Specifications Technical Data Installation Instructions Ordering Information Product Description X-BT-ER stainless steel threaded studs are designed for electrical connections under permanent current, short circuit current and lightning current conditions. Packaged with two stainless nuts and one stainless steel lock washer, the X-BT-ER can be used for electrical grounding such as bonding and lightning protection under corrosive environments. The X-BT-ER is available in W6/7 SN4 and W10/3 SN4 sizes. Product Features and Benefits Fast: A connection can be made in less than 1 minute. Removing and reapplication of coatings are not required. Reliable: Stainless steel stud is generally suitable for corrosive industrial environments. The vibration resistant stud prevents the connection from accidentally coming loose. Simple: Drill, fasten and connect. External power source is not needed and not dependent on weather. Fastening of thicker cable is acceptable provided the maximum permanent current of 40A is not exceeded and the provisions on cable lug thickness are observed. Protective Bonding Circuit For discharging short circuit current while protecting electrical equipment or earth / ground or bond cable trays and ladders Single point connection Max. short circuit current for period of 1s = 120A Note: Recommended connected cable size (tested to 120A for 1s) following IEC/EN : 10mm 2 copper ( 8AWG). Fastening of thicker cable is acceptable provided the maximum current of 120A for a period of 1 second is not exceeded and the provisions on cable lug thickness are observed. Recommended connected cable size (tested to 70A for 4s) according to UL 467: 10AWG Double point connection Max. short circuit current for period of 1s = 1800A Note: Recommended connected cable size (tested to 1800A for 1s) following IEC/EN : 16mm 2 copper ( 6AWG). Single point connection Maximum current (According to EN and EN /prA:200): 0kA for 2ms One nut with cable lug When one nut is utilized and cable lug is in contact with base material: Cable lug must be in direct contact with non-coated base material. Extra W10 SS washer to be used and installed between lock washer and cable lug. Base material must not contact the X-BT-ER SN washer, lock washer and nut. Cable lug thickness = 0.079" to 0.47" (2mm to 12mm). Cable lug hole diameter 0.1" (13mm). Max. tightening torque =.90 ft-lb (8Nm). Maximum tested current: 100kA for 2ms 3 Hilti, Inc. Thickness of base material must be /16'' (8 mm), spacing of the fasteners must be /8'' (1 mm), edge distance of the fasteners must be 1/4'' (6 mm). Thickness of base material corrosion protection layer 0.017'' (0.4 mm). For thicker coatings, please contact Hilti. 2. Install bottom nut followed by cable lug, lock washer and second nut. The bottom nut must not touch the X-BT SN washer. 3. For double point connection, the total thickness of cable lug t cl must be 0.28" (7mm) 4. For single point connection, the thickness of cable lug t cl must be 0.12" (3mm). Hold the bottom nut with a spanner while tightening the upper nut. Tightening torque: Min..90 lb-ft (8 Nm) Max lb-ft (20 Nm) 1 These are abbreviated instructions which may vary by application.
