All pistons are pre-fitted, and cylinders are honed and ready for installation. Sets also include piston rings, but for better oil control and longer ring life, we recommend Hastings Piston Rings. Our 10% discount applies to piston and liner sets only with the purchase of a complete engine overhaul. Our forged aluminum-alloy pistons are an update of the highly acclaimed 1400 Kit which was popular when Giuliettas were new. The 8.3% increase in displacement greatly improves midrange torque. This will give your engine a flatter, broader torque curve with much greater flexibility. Compression ratio on a Normale is 9.5:1, and on a Veloce it is 10.0:1. No machining of the block is required. Pistons, piston pins and clips, and Hastings Piston Rings are included. The 1400 pistons will fit either 750, 101, or engines. Have your old liners bored, or install a set of our prebored liners on an exchange basis. No discounts apply to pistons and liners. Our experience has shown that some aftermarket rings have excessive wall pressure, which accelerates liner wear. We believe Hastings rings to be the finest available, exhibiting superior sealing properties without trashing liners. Hastings compression rings are chrome-plated to prevent binding in the ring groove and to decrease wall friction, and the three-piece oil ring uses a long-lasting stainless steel expander for even sealing. On new piston sets, replace the original rings with Hastings for improved performance and longer life. With used liners, the Hastings rings will seal perfectly up to the maximum allowable taper of 0.10mm. 2 ENGINE PARTS 3 PERFORMANCE CAMSHAFTS Breathe new life into your Alfa! The simplest, most effective way to gain horsepower is to increase valve duration and lift with a set of Centerline s Performance Camshafts. We offer new European 2000 camshafts and two welded-regrind camshafts for the 4- cylinder cars. Welded cams will provide increased valve duration and lift, but maintain the original base-circle for easier valve adjustment. The welding also provides a new cam-lobe surface with better wear resistance than original Alfa cams. For the single-cam V/6 engines, we offer new 164S camshafts. Camshafts are intended for off-road use only, though engines with our camshafts have passed the Colorado State IM-240 pollution test for all-applicable years. There are no discounts on cams. When changing camshafts, carefully inspect your original camshafts and tappets. Lobes can become flat and will feel sharp because the leading edge of the lobe has worn. Tappets should show a smooth, circular wear pattern, but may be galled or pitted. A damaged lobe often means a damaged tappet and vice-versa. Damaged tappets will destroy a new cam. Our new cams are warranted only when all tappets are replaced. EUROPEAN 2000 CAMSHAFTS FOR 1300 THROUGH 2000 ENGINES Our new European two-liter camshafts are an excellent performance cam for all 1300 and 1600 engines. They have a superior power-curve with much better low-/mid-range torque when compared to Veloce cams. Euro camshafts work well with either Normale single-carb or Veloce twin-carb induction and are a perfect mate with our 1400 Piston Kit. On 1750 and 2000 engines, there is a 5 HP increase with a broader torque curve and no decrease in drivability. European Camshaft, new each PC456 $ PC456 11mm LIFT, 246 DURATION CAMSHAFT Stock 1750 and 2000 cams have between 9.1mm and 9.6mm s of valve lift. The increase to 11mm provides a significant improvement in airflow through the combustion chamber, with a real seat-ofthe-pants increase in power. They give excellent power and drivability with either Spica injection or dual-carbureted Alfa engines. With a smooth idle, they come on-cam at RPM with a very linear rush to redline. 11mm Lift Performance Camshaft, welded-regrind each PC450 $ Core Deposit, per cam PCCD mm LIFT, 260 DURATION CAMSHAFT A little more than the 11mm cams, these start working at RPM. They are lots of fun with either Spica fuel injection or dual Webers. Perfect for time trials and blasting through the back roads, doing what an Alfa is designed to do best. 11.3mm Lift Performance Camshaft, welded-regrind each PC451 $ Core Deposit, per cam PCCD mm - EURO CAMSHAFT COMBO An exceptionally nice camshaft combination if you want more power than the Euro Camshaft offers without sacrificing any midrange torque. Our 11mm lift camshaft on the intake valves with our new Euro 10 mm lift camshaft on the exhaust valves will provide a flat torque curve with very strong mid-range punch. This makes your 1750/2000 engine very easy to drive without the need to run at higher RPMs, but still pulls strongly to redline when the situation demands it. 11mm Lift Intake Camshaft PC450 $ Euro Performance Camshaft PC Core Deposit, for PC450 PCCD S CAMSHAFTS Perk-up your 2.5 or 3.0 single-cam V/6 engine with a pair of new 164S camshafts. These cams have a little more lift and duration, which provides an increase in torque and top end without sacrificing drivability. 3 4 ENGINE PARTS REMANUFACTURED CYLINDER HEADS RESTORE POWER INCREASE GAS MILEAGE IMPROVE THROTTLE RESPONSE REDUCE OIL BURNING Centerline s remanufactured cylinder heads will put the ZING back in your Alfa! Each head is meticulously inspected for cracks and other damage. Those that pass are treated to all new valves, manganese-bronze valve guides, teflon seals on intake and exhaust guides, and our performance valve springs. A careful multi-angle valve job is performed to ensure peak airflow and performance, and each head is resurfaced for optimum head gasket sealing. Please inquire as to core charges and preparation of old head for shipping. No discounts on remanufactured heads. Inquire about 750 heads. 4-Cylinder Remanufactured Head (except 750) $ Cylinder Remanufactured Heads, pair Cylinder Head Core Deposit PERFORMANCE CYLINDER HEADS An internal combustion engine is essentially an air pump. The key to performance is maximizing the efficiency of that pump, and one of the best places to start is with a Centerline performance cylinder head. We perform all of the operations listed above, and then add our stainless steel oversize valves and all new valve seats. Special attention is paid to cleaning and smoothing the bowl area of the head, just above the valves, and the critical transition between the port and the combustion chamber. The result is 90% of the top-end power of a full port job, while retaining excellent streetability. CYLINDER HEAD PARTS Our intake valves are chrome-silicon steel, and our exhaust valves are a high-nitrogen chrome-nickel manganese for superior heat transfer and long life in your Alfa engine. Our valve guides are U.S.-manufactured manganese-bronze, ideally suited for today s no-lead fuels which do not provide the lubrication of leaded fuels. Intake guides are cut to accept premium Teflon valve-guide seals, widely recognized as giving superior sealing and long wear. We suggest using intake guides on both the intake and exhaust side of the head. Installing Teflon seals on the exhaust side will reduce oil burning and extend cylinder-head life. The Teflon seals will not fit original Alfa guides. 4 OVERSIZE VALVES Increase the breathing capacity of your Alfa. Our 1.0mm oversize valves are designed to be used with standard guides and seals. The original valve seats must be cut to a 45 angle. Our oversize valves are stainless steel with chrome-impregnated stems that will withstand temperatures of 1600 F. The square cross-section provides a larger sealing surface, and the spiral pin prevents seal deformation, which can cause leakage or restrict oil flow to the cylinder head. It is made from a elastomer compound to resist heat, ozone, oil, or age hardening.
