5 Circuit Protectors CP3, CP3D, CP32D CP3, CP3D, CP32D circuit protectors 250V AC 0.3A to 30A 50V DC 0.3A to 30A Description The CP3 and CP32 have a similar functions to a molded case circuit breaker and they can be used for normal switching ON and OFF operations while breaking both overload and short-circuit currents. They are available in two time-current versions an instantaneous and a time-delay version. A suitable type should be selected to match the thermal and permissible current requirements. These are recommended for sequential control circuits, motor control circuits, solenoid-operated valves, heaters and solid-state applications. Features Excellent arc interruption Since the arc extinguisher uses a loop blow-out system the arc is rapidly extinguished. Highly visible handle indication ON shows red and OFF or TRIP blue. When positioned at ON the operating handle is completely housed inside the molded case and does not protrude. This helps to prevent erroneous operation. Trip-free mechanism Also available with auxiliary switch SPDT. Two time-current versions instantaneous operation and a time delay type. Select the model best suited to your protection needs. CP3D and CP32D types are of front and rail dual mounting. 6 Circuit Protectors CP3, CP3D, CP32D Operation The operation of the magnetic overload release of the CP3, CP3D and CP32D circuit protectors are as shown in the sectional diagram Fig.. The magnetic tripping element of the circuit protector is simple a solenoid coil wound around a hermetically-sealed non-magnetic cylinder containing a spring-loaded movable iron core and a silicon fluid. When currents less than the rated value flow no movement occurs in either the armature or iron core. However, when a sustained overcurrent occurs the magnetic field is increased. This causes the iron core to move along the cylinder. Once the core reaches the opposite end of the cylinder the armature is attracted which causes the protector to trip as shown in Fig. 2 and 3. When a short circuit occurs the magnetic flux produced in the coil alone is strong enough to attract the armature regardless of core position. This causes circuit to be interrupted instantaneously. 27 Circuit Protectors CP3E, 32E, 33E, 34E CP3V, 32V, 33V, 34V CP-E and CP-V circuit protectors 250V AC 0.05A to 30A 65V DC 0.05A to 30A Description CP-E, CP-V circuit protectors have been specially developed for computers, communication equipment and peripheral applications. In these situations power irregularities can lead to serious and expensive damage, and reliable protective equipment is required. FUJI circuit protectors meet this need. These protectors are available with ratings from 50mA to 30A. They are widely used in FA, office machinery, communication equipment and industrial computer-controlled equipment. They are also suitable for extremely severe service since they can withstand mechanical shocks up to 98m/s 2. Features Available in instantaneous, short time, medium time and long time delay types, thus making them suitable for a wide range of electronic applications. Also available in types having inertia delay characteristics. These do not trip due to inrush current. For internal circuits, series trip, shunt trip, relay trip and switch types are available. Circuit protectors with an auxiliary and alarm switch are also available. Single pole to 3-pole CP types can be operated with a single handle. Handle holes are easily made in panels. Widths down to 9mm. Standards : CP-E, CP-V (File No. E96846), (File No. E8346 for switch type), Socket CP-S (E96846SP, E8346, LR67978 (CSA C22.2 No.4)) TÜV (IEC): CP-V(R ) Accessories Auxiliary switch (Type W) This switch is used for indicator lamp or control circuit. 37 D Low Voltage Fuses FCF and FCK types FCF, FCK type current-limiting fuses 500V AC FCF Up to 60 Amps FCK Up to 600 Amps Description FCF and FCK HRC fuses use a specially designed low-temperature melting element, a feature of 'dual element' fuses. There is no fuse deterioration due to overcurrent phenomena such as rush current at the time of motor starting and they also feature time-lag operation characteristics. They operate rapidly and positively in the face of destructive short circuit currents. Since they are current-limiting fuses with a high capacity of 50kA (FCF types: 60 Amps) they are suitable for many types of power and control circuits. The fuse link is housed in a ceramic barrel with excellent thermal and mechanical characteristics and is packed in silica sand which prevents arcing. Thus there are no fears of explosion or production of noxious gases. The FCF's link end is a solid ferrule-type and available in 60 Amps ratings. The FCK is a center blade-type and available in Amps ratings. The fuse links for the 75 Amps FCK and larger sizes are provided with a blown fuse indicator. 48 Low Voltage Fuses BLC, CR and CS types Super Rapid Fuses Operating indication Blown fuse indication FUJI Super Rapid Fuses are available in BLC, CR and CS types. These types have different methods of indicating a blown fuse. BLC type A blown fuse is indicated by the color tip on the ferrule of the fuse being ejected as shown in Fig.. This can be seen through the window of the fuse holder. CR type This fuse does not have a blown indicator but if a trigger fuse is connected as shown in Fig. 2 this will provide the alarm for blown fuse. CS type This fuse is provided with a blown fuse indicator. In this case a pin in the contact pad is ejected after the fuse has been blown. If electrical connections for lamps or alarms are required fit the contact block (NO or NC) to the pad as shown in Fig. 3. 49 Low Voltage Fuses BLC, CR and CS types Super Rapid Fuses Application and selection guide BLC, CR and CS-type Super rapid fuse When selecting fuses for semiconductor rectifier circuit protection the following conditions must be satisfied. For additional details contact FUJI. Conditions of application. The rated interrupting current of the fuse must be greater than the estimated short circuit current of the circuit. Available short circuit current of rectifier circuit Rated interrupting current of fuse 2. The let-thru current value of fuse must be less than the allowable /2 cycle surge current value. Fuse let-thru current value < = < Semiconductor /2 cycle allowable surge current ms (at 50Hz) Fig. (a) Line fuse method In this method the fuses are connected to the AC line side. Fig. (b) Element fuse method In this method the fuses are connected in series to the semiconductor element. Fuse ratings When selecting fuses various factors such as protection, coordination and load, etc. must be considered. However, in this catalog the main matters such as voltage, current and I 2 t only are explained. Rated voltage The rated voltage of the fuse indicates the maximum operational voltage and this also indicates the root-meansquare value of the AC sinusoidal wave voltage. Select fuses having a rated voltage exceeding the voltage obtained by the formula shown in the following table. (Fig. ) Do not select current-limiting fuses with rated voltages drastically exceeding the rectifier circuit voltage. It is necessary to consider the arc voltage. 3. The total clearing I 2 t value which the fuse requires to complete interruption must be less than the allowable I 2 t value of semiconductor. Fuse total clearing I 2 t Semiconductor I 2 t 4. The rated current of the fuse must be greater than the average forward current of the semiconductor. Fuse Semiconductor rated current average forward current 5. The rated current and voltage of the fuse must be greater than those of the rectifier circuit. Fuse rated current and voltage < = > > Rectifier circuit current and voltage Method of application Semiconductor rectifier equipment has a variety of rectifier circuits. Taking the 3-phase bridge rectifier circuit as an example Fig. (a) and (b) as shown in the following. Although the number of fuses used in the line fuse method (a) is half the number used in the element fuse method (b), the fuses must have a larger current capacity. 50 Low Voltage Fuses BLC, CR and CS types Super Rapid Fuses Rated current The current values in fuses in the line fuse system and the element fuse system are different. Obtain the correct current value from the table on page 08/48 (Fig. 2). When selecting the rated current of a fuse choose a fuse having an amperage rating greater than the current which flows in the semiconductor if the load is continuous and a fixed current. If the current which flows in the semiconductor is greater than the rated current of the fuse connect the fuses in parallel. However, in this case, if the numbers of fuses arranged in parallel are 'n', then the I 2 t value of the fuse will be n 2 I 2 t and n 2 times the I 2 t value of one fuse. This should be taken into consideration when protective coordination is taken into account. In the case of the circuit where the load rapidly varies the fuse element will suffer from mechanical deterioration and be damaged by thermal stress. In loads of this type the deterioration characteristics of the fuse must be closely considered. Moreover if the fuse current time characteristics of the fuse selected is less than the overload characteristics of the semiconductor element then complete protection can be obtained. However, if the semiconductor element has a large capacity then protective cooperation is very difficult to arrange. The fuses are used to isolate the shorted semiconductor element circuit from sound operating circuits. Total clearing I 2 t The total clearing I 2 t of fuse is a very important factor when considering the protective coordination of the semiconductor. This total clearing I 2 t is the value where the arcing I 2 t is added to the melting I 2 t. Therefore it is necessary to satisfy the following formula. Fuse total clearing I 2 t 08/46 < = Semiconductor I 2 t The total clearing I 2 t of fuse depends upon the operational voltage and interrupting current. Therefore, for this reason if a 500 Volts fuse is used in a 300 Volts circuit the total clearing I 2 t is reduced by 50 70%. However, the reduction rate varies according to the type of fuse construction. This must be checked and confirmed once more. Example I 2 t All I 2 t values are ampere 2 seconds. The I 2 t data for silicon diodes or thyristor elements are normally given in their respective catalogs. If the A 2 S data is not given in their catalog obtain the value in the following manner. If protection is needed for a 250V, 50A (Io) diode having a maximum allowable peak half sine wave current of 2700A, it is important that the fuse has a total I 2 t value lower than that of the diode. Calculation Maximum I 2 t diode = ( Peak ) = ( 2700 ) = 30,400A 2 Sec. From the table (Page 08/38), the fuse with a total I 2 t nearest to 30,400A 2 Sec. is the 260 Ampere fuse (CR 2L-260). Interrupting current The rated interrupting current of the fuse must exceed the maximum value (Symmetrical RMS value) of the estimated circuit fault current. Peak arc voltage In the case of the current-limiting fuse an arc voltage (overvoltage) is generated at the time of interruption due to its fusible element construction. It is necessary to check that this peak arc voltage does not exceed the semiconductor's maximum (Nonrepetitive peak) reverse voltage value. Current limitation Select a fuse whose let-thru current value does not exceed the allowable /2 cycle surge current of the semiconductor. The allowable surge current is the peak value of the current which in case at 50Hz is allowed to flow for ms. In the current-limiting fuse the fault must be cleared in the shortest possible time or in the first /2 cycle. Available current is the current which would flow if the fuse were not currentlimiting. This would cause damage to equipment. Let-thru current is the actual current allowed to flow by the current limiting action of the fuse. A number of let-thru current graphs are given in this catalog and example is given in the following paragraph. The method of reading this graph is provided for your reference. Let-thru peak current(amperes)-peak Let-thru peak current (Instantaneous):,600 Amps Let-thru R.M.S. current,600.7 = 6,800 Amps This example clearly shows that while a 0kA (rms, sym) current is available, the fuse limits the current letthru to 6,800 Amperes (rms, sym). 5,000 Peak let-thru current (Actual short-circuit current) Peak current of first half cycle of available peak current (AC component) Short circuit current that would pass without currentlimiting fuse. 52 Air Circuit Breakers DH series Features Air circuit breakers DH series The new FUJI DH series of air circuit breakers (ACB) feature numerous improvements over the DB series, resulting in greater compactness, lighter weight, and easier operation. The new series offers a wide range of rated voltages, with seven types ranging from 800A to 4,000A. Standard, high, or super high breaking capacity can be selected to match the scale of the equipment being used. A large variety of accessories are also available, and all operation, wiring, and parts installation and replacement can be done from the front panel of the breaker. This ensures both safety and efficiency in control panel mounting, maintenance, and inspection. 250A DH Series 30A Features Standardized basic dimensions The height and depth dimensions are identical in all sizes to 30A. There are two common widths or frame size, from A and from A for the standard series. The panel cutout size is the same for all types of DH series ACB, which makes it easy to arrange the ACBs in switchboards. Maximum power from minimum volume was central to the design specification. With a depth of 290mm for the fixed type and 345mm for draw-out, it is one of the smallest ACBs in the world. DH Series Saved Space DB series H: D: 345 D: W: 354 Standard type 800 to 00A High breaking type 250 to 00A W: and 30A 600 to 30A W: A Increased accessibility from the front It enhances ease of installation, operation, and maintenance. The double insulated design ensures that most accessories can be safely and easily, installed by the user. Control, auxiliary and position switch terminals are mounted at the front on the ACB body for easy access. Due to the increased level of harmonics within the distribution network, the neutral phase is fully rated as standard. Connection to the control circuit No extra arc space required, vertical stacking permitted The DH series ACB dissipates all arc energy within its unique Double Break arc chamber. The internal energy dissipation within the ACB allows the clearance distance of the ACB to nearby earthed metal to be zero. This will assist in minimizing switchboard height and costs. No extra arc space required Replacement of internal parts (Removing the front cover enables replacement of internal parts.) 53 Air Circuit Breakers DH series Very fast interruption by Double Break system The unique Double Break main contact system ensures extremely fast interruption of short-circuit currents and substantially reduces main contact wear. The internally symmetrical Double Break structure allows reverse power connection. No clamp screws used for the main circuit contact units There are no clamp screws or flexible leads in the main circuit contact units. This substantially enhances the durability of the main circuit contact units and improves the reliability in ON-OFF operation. Isolating main contact Fixed main contact Moving main contact Main circuit contact units Enhanced selectivity At FUJI we are so concerned about selectivity that all our protection relays have LSI characteristics as standard. This provides an adjustable time delay on overload (L) and also the l 2 t ramp characteristic (S). As shown, these are essential to provide selectivity when grading with other protective devices such as downstream fuses and upstream relays. The standard LSI curve provides more than five million combinations of unique time current characteristics. Zone selective interlocking is available to provide zero time delay selectivity. Also in case we forgot to mention, a thermal memory as standard! Two channel pre-trip alarm function (S-characteristic) * This function can be used to monitor and switch on additional power backup to feed critical circuits. For example, the function can be set so that when a pre-trip alarm is activated, an emergency generator starts to ensure a constant supply. This feature is only available on some AGR2 OCR models with a generator S- characteristic. N-phase protection function (optional) In 3-phase, 4-wire systems that contain harmonic distortion, the 3rd harmonic may cause large currents to flow through the neutral conductor. The N- phase protection function prevents the neutral conductor from sustaining damage or burnout due to these large currents. Available in all OCRs except for generator S-characteristic types. 60 Air Circuit Breakers DH series Closing method Closing method With DH series ACB, there are two kinds of closing methods; manual charging type and motor charging type. Manual charging type With manual charging type DH series ACB, the closing springs are charged manually by means of the spring charging handle. The ON/OFF operation of ACB is performed by ON/OFF buttons on the ACB. Charging the closing springs The closing springs are charged manually by pumping the spring charging handle. Closing the ACB Pressing the ON button on the ACB closes the ACB. Opening the ACB Pressing the OFF button on the ACB opens the ACB. The ACB cannot be closed as long as the OFF button is pressed. Motor charging type With motor charging type DH series ACB, the closing springs are charged by a motor. The ON/OFF operation of ACB is performed remotely. The DH series ACB is also equipped with a manual charging mechanism to facilitate inspection and maintenance work. The electronized control circuit promises optimum control to the charging of the closing spring and ACB ON/OFF operation. Charging the closing springs The closing springs are automatically charged by a motor. When the closing springs are released with the ACB turned on, they are automatically charged again by the motor in preparation for the next ON operation. Closing the ACB Turn on the remote ON switch to close the ACB. As the antipumping mechanism is equipped, even if the ON switch is turned on continuously, the ACB's closing operation is performed only once. When the ACB has to be closed again, turn off the ON switch to reset the anti-pumping mechanism, turn on the ON switch after the closing springs charge completed. If the ON and OFF signals are simultaneously given to the ACB, the ON signals are ignored. Opening the ACB With AGR- OCR or without OCR, to open the ACB remotely, use the shunt trip device (see page 08/57), or the undervoltage trip device (see page 08/58). With AGR-2 OCR, the ACB can be electrically turned off by turning on the external OFF switch to excite the tripping coil TC. The tripping coil TC is equipped as standard. 63 Air Circuit Breakers DH series Overcurrent trip device (OCR) Overcurrent trip device (OCR) The AGR series of overcurrent trip device (OCR) featuring high reliability and multiple protection capabilities is available for DH series. Controlled by an internal 8-bit microprocessor, the OCR provides reliable protection against overcurrent. The OCR range is divided into three groups: L-characteristic, R-characteristic (both for general feeder) and S-characteristic (for generator protection). Each group consists of: Type AGR-: Standard OCR with adjustment dial Type AGR-2: Enhanced OCR with adjustment dial Optional protection functions of the OCR include those against ground fault, earth leakage, undervoltage and reverse power. Pre-trip alarm function can also be installed. Types of tripping functions. Adjustable long time-delay trip function (LT) Effectctive value (RMS) detection used to accurately read through distorted waveforms. In addition to the standard L and S-characteristics, the R- characteristic is available in five types for long time-delay trip. The R-characteristic can be used to give selective tripping coordination with e.g., fuses. (See page 08/50.) Hot-start mode (applicable to L-characteristic) In the hot-start mode, when overcurrent occurs in a load state, the circuit breaker operates in a shorter amount of time as compared with operation in the cold-start mode. The hot-start mode is suitable to protect motors and wires from thermal damage. The hot-start and cold-start modes can be switched easily with a switch. (The M-characteristic cannot be applied.) At shipment, the circuit breaker is set in the cold-start mode. Hot-start mode 2. Adjustable short time-delay trip function (ST) Ramp characteristic has been provided in addition to definite time-delay trip characteristic. The ramp characteristic gives coordinative protection with downstream circuit breakers or fuses properly. In type AGR-2L and AGR-2R OCRs, the definite time characteristic is activated when the load current is 00% or more of the rated current [In] (500% or more of the rated current [In] for AGR-2S). The definite time-delay trip characteristic and ramp characteristic are selectable with a switch. The ST trip function is set to the definite time-delay trip characteristic at factory shipment. Operating time Ramp characteristic curve (L or R-characteristic) 2.5 I sd 0. t sd Operating time Cold-start curve Hot-start curves Current ➀When the OCR is set to start operation at 50% of the rated current, its operating time in HOT start mode is approx. 80% of that in COLD start mode. ➁When the OCR is set to start operation at 75% of the rated current, its operating time in HOT start mode is approx. 60% of that in COLD start mode. ➂When the OCR is set to start operation at 0% of the rated current, its operating time in HOT start mode is approx. % of that in COLD start mode. q w e 0% 00% Current 3. Adjustable instantaneous trip function (INST/MCR) The INST trip function trips the ACB, irrespective of the state of the ACB, when a short-circuit current exceeding the pickup setting current flows. The MCR trips the ACB when a short-circuit current flows during ACB closing operation, and locks the ACB to keep it inoperative. INST and MCR are selectable with a switch. Note: The MCR needs a control power. If the control power is lost, only the INST function operates. 08 Fuji Electric FA Components & Systems Co., Ltd./D & C Catalog Information subject to change without notice 08/59

64 Air Circuit Breakers DH series 4. Adjustable pre-trip alarm (PTA) The pre-trip alarm function provides an alarm signal via the alarm contact (NO-contact) when the load current exceeding a predetermined value lasts for a predetermined time. A 2 -channel pre-trip alarm function is available for S-characteristic. This function can be used to adjust feeding to loads according to their priority. The pre-trip alarm is automatically reset when the load current drops to the predetermined value. Note that this function needs the control power. 5. Ground fault trip function (GF) The peak value sensing is used (the residual current of each phase is detected). The GF pickup current can be set between % and 0% of the CT rated primary current [I CT ]. <Ramp characteristic is added> The ramp and definite time characteristics are switch selectable. The GF trip function comes into operation with the definite time characteristic when the load current reaches 0% or more of the CT rated primary current [I CT ]. The GF trip function is factory set to the definite time characteristic. When using a 3-pole ACB in a 3-phase, 4-wire system, be sure to use an optional CT for neutral line. (See page 08/74.) Note : The GF trip function comes usually with operation indications (LED and contact output). If you need nothing but ground fault indication without a ground fault tripping operation, specify at the time of ordering. 7. Reverse power trip function (RPT) (For AGR-2 only.) The RPT function protects 3-phase generators running in parallel against reverse power. The RPT pickup current can be set in seven levels: 4% through % of the generator rated power. The applicable rated voltages are 0 - V AC, 0-240V AC, and V AC. The RPT function comes usually with operation indications (LED and contact output). Note : CT for RPT is provided as standard when you specify RPT for 800AF to 30AF draw-out type. However, CT for RPT for 4000AF should be provided by you. 8. N-phase protection function (NP) This NP function is available on 4-pole ACBs and prevents the neutral conductor from suffering damage or burnout due to overcurrent. The NP trip pickup current can be set between 40% and 0% of the OCR rated primary current for L and R- characteristics or of the generator rated current for S- characteristic. It is factory set to a value specified at the time of ordering. Note : The NP trip function comes usually with operation indications (LED and contact output). The NP trip pickup current setting is shared by the LT trip function. Note 2: The HOT start mode is available. The operating time for the NP trip function is linked to that for the LT trip function. 6. Earth leakage trip function (ELT) (For AGR-2 only) In conjunction with an external zero-phase current transformer (ZCT), the ELT function provides protection against earth leakage. The ELT pickup current can be set at 0.2, 0.3, 0.5 and A (Medium sensitivity) or 3 and 5A (Low sensitivity). This function needs the control power. Note : For details on specifications of the external ZCT, contact FUJI. Note 2: The ELT function comes usually with operation indications (LED and contact output). If you need nothing but earth leakage indications without earth leakage tripping operation, specify at the time of ordering. Note 3: The ELT function is available up to 30A rated current [I n ]. 08/60 Fuji Electric FA Components & Systems Co., Ltd./D & C Catalog Information subject to change without notice

65 Air Circuit Breakers DH series 9. Adjustable type undervoltage trip function (UVT) (For AGR-2 only.) The applicable rated voltages are 0 - V AC, 0-240V AC, and V AC. The UVT function trips the ACB when the UVT control voltage drops to a value equal to 65% of the rated value. The operating time can be set in ten levels: instantaneous through sec. The ACB can be closed 2 sec. after the UVT control voltage has returned to the pick-up voltage. Phase-loss protection is available by connecting R,S and T-phase. Note : The UVT control power is shared by the reverse power trip function (if fitted). Note 2: The UVT function comes usually with operation indications (LED and contact output). Note 3: The UVT function trips the ACB when any phase is lost in case 3 phases are detected. Note 4: For the fixed type undervoltage trip device for AGR- or no OCR, See page 08/58.. Contact temperature monitoring function (HEAT) (For AGR-2 only.) The HEAT function prevents the ACB from suffering damage due to overheat. It monitors the temperature of the ACB main contacts, and gives an alarm via an LED indicator and an output signal via the alarm contact (NO-contact) when the temperature exceeds 55 C. The alarm can be manually reset when the temperature drops to a normal temperature. If you want to set the threshold temperature to a lower value, contact FUJI. This function needs the control power. NON setting and fail-safe feature. NON setting Setting a trip pickup current setting dial to the NON position allows you to render the corresponding protection function inoperative. Dials having the NON position include LT, ST, INST/MCR, and GF. Appropriate NON setting will be a useful means for optimum selectivity. 2. Fail-safe feature The OCR has a fail-safe mechanism in case setting dials are improperly set to the NON position. If the ST and INST trip pickup current setting dials are both set to NON, the fail-safe mechanism will activate the INST trip function to trip the ACB when a fault current equal to or more than 6 times the rated current [I n ] flows through the ACB. If the ST and MCR trip pickup current setting dials are both set to NON, the fail safe mechanism will activate the ST delay trip function to trip the ACB when a fault current equal to or more than times (5 times for generator protection) the rated current [I n ] flows through the ACB. 08 Field test function Long time-delay trip, short time-delay trip, and instantaneous trip operations can be tested easily in the field. Key lock There are two types of keylock: "Lockin-OFF type" which prevents the breaker from being CLOSED and "Lock-in-ON type" prevents it from being OPENED. When the ACB is fitted with a key lock, the operator cannot operate the ACB unless using a matched key. Key interlock The key interlock is a system of interlocking between ACBs, each fitted with a key lock of lock-in OFF type. A key must be inserted to release the lock before the ACB can be closed. The ACB must be opened and locked in the OFF position before the key can be removed. By utilizing the lock-in OFF type key lock feature, and then a limited number of keys by default provides an effective and reliable interlock system. Using the same keys also allows interlocking between an ACB and other devices (such as a switchboard door). ACBs are supplied with a cylinder lock or with a provision for tyep FS-2 Castell lock (with angular movement 90 clockwise to trap key). The Castell lock is not supplied. 08 Example: Interlock for prevention of parallel feeding of two power supplies when a bus-tie breaker is used. OFF padlock Permits the ACB to be padlocked in the OFF position. Max. three padlocks with 6mm dia. hasp can be fitted. Padlocking is possible only when ON-OFF indicator shows OFF. When the ACB is padlocked in the OFF position, both manual and electrial closing become inoperative, but the charging of the closing spring by manual or motor is still possible. Note: OFF padlock facility cannot be fitted with key lock or key interlock. Interface barrier An interface barrier prevents a possible short-circuit due to foreign objects entering between the poles of the main circuit terminals or between the line and load ends, thus enhancing operational reliability of the ACB. This barrier cannot be applied to ACBs that are supplied with front connections or a reverse power trip function. 08 Earthing device There is a growing demand in L.V. distribution for greater protection against electric shock particularly during periods when maintenance work is being carried out on the main busbars or cables. A safe and economical way to meet this requirement is to apply system earthing via the normal service breaker. Earthing devices on FUJI ACBs comprises; permanent parts which are factory fitted by FUJI and are mounted on the ACB chassis and body to enable the ACB to receive the portable parts. Portable parts are supplied in loose kit form and are fitted on to the ACB body by the customer s engineer. This converts the ACB from a normal service device to an earthing device. When the ACB is converted to the earthing device mode, the over current release and the other electrical tripping devices are automatically disabled to prevent the remote opening of the ACB. It is recommended that the ON-OFF operating buttons be padlocked to prevent manual opening of the ACB when used in the earthing mode. UVT function cannot be applied to the earthing device.
