From cost considerations the depth of ceiling void is kept to a minimum ensuring sufficient space for ducts, plenum boxes, light fittings etc. Openings are required in the ceiling for air diffusers and flush lights. As the visual impression of a ceiling depends not only on the ceiling elements but also on the air diffusers and lights used, it is useful to combine the two. By combining the two components, the architect can optimise the design of the ceiling further. In this technical brochure, we introduce Trox Air Handling Lights Type LR. In a combined air and light fitting, the customer can specify the manufacturer and type of light fitting to be integrated with the Trox diffuser. The opening size in the diffuser is designed to accept the most common light diameters produced by Staff GmbH and Co. KG. The Trox air diffuser is designed so that the light ordered can easily be fitted on site. Trox air lights are available in 5 sizes for supply air, extract air or as a combination of the two. They are all characterised by sophisticated design, excellent air conditioning functions, low noise level and a flat construction. Trox also offer other Air/Light Combinations. 2

3 Supply Air-Construction LR-Z-... The air handling light type LR-Z is suitable for supply air. The air flows evenly out through the diffuser annulus and discharges horizontally along a ceiling. If required, an airflow control damper can be fitted in the entry spigot. The light fitting is enclosed in a sheet metal cylinder. 4 Extract Air-Construction LR-A-... Air handling light type LR-A is designed for extract air application. The air is exhausted through the diffuser annulus. 5 Combined Construction LR-K-... The air handling light type LR-K is designed for a combination of supply and extract air. The supply air flows evenly out through the outer annulus of the diffuser and discharges horizontally along a ceiling when flush mounted. The extract air is exhausted through the inner annulus. There is no risk of contact between the supply and extract air, as the connections and internal fittings have been designed to prevent this. The extract air volume flow should never be set higher than the supply air flow. The heat from the bulb is removed with the extract air. 6 Installation Details Materials Installation details The plenum box hangs from the support brackets such that the bottom of the diffuser spigot lies flush with the ceiling line. The push-in mounting frame is then fitted and screwed in place. The diffuser face with the light already fitted, is mounted using special quick release fasteners. Fasten the safety cable provided and insert the plastic plugs. The elctrical connection cable is pushed through the grommet in the top of the box. The reflector and bulb (s) are then fitted. When the diffuser face is removed, the control damper in the inlet or outlet spigot can be adjusted using a screwdriver. One row of lights only comes between two rows in which every second light is an air handling light. Specification Text Air handling lights in circular construction for horizontal air discharge, comprising the diffuser face with concentric annuli for supply and exhaust air, spacing 14 mm, and plenum box fitted at rear with internal special air control elements, circular side mounted spigots (with optional flow control damper), mounting brackets and adjustable height push-in mounting frame to compensate for ceiling irregularities. Diffuser face fixed with two quick release fasteners for easy removal, and designed fro the installation of circular light fittings by the customer (down lighters). Material : The diffuser face is made from sheet steel.
