Mounting and commissioning 7 Mounting and commissioning WARNING Risk of injury from uncontrolled movements! If the energy supply is switched on or residual energy remains in the system, parts may move unexpectedly and cause serious injuries. Switch off energy supply. Make sure there is no residual energy in the system NOTICE Assembly measures When mounting the module and the mounting of loads can affect any unallowable forces and moments ( catalog) Select suitable screw tightening torque for mounting the module or loads the module, accordance with the general guidelines for screw connections. Secure all screw connections with a suitable chemical threadlocker. 7. Check the evenness of the bolting surface Mechanical connection The values relate to the entire bolting surface. Requirements for levelness of the bolting surface Permissible unevenness [mm] <.2 Mounting The linear module may be selectively attached to the body or the carriage. Similarly, the structure may be optionally attached to the end carriage or the base body. The catalog shows the mounting of the linear module to the base body and the securing of the structure of the face plates LM 25-3 en

Mounting and commissioning 7.2 Air connection NOTICE Possible damage to the linear module! If the module moves too hard against the end positions, the linear module might be damaged. A linear movement alway must reach the end position without jerk or bounce. Therefore flow control valves and shock absorbers must be used, ( 7.4, Page 9) and ( 7.5, Page 8). Please observe the diagrams and information in the catalog pages. NOTE Use connection cables with the same or larger cross section as the connection threads. Observe the requirements for the air supply( 6, Page 3). 17 Mounting and commissioning Re-adjustment of the end position sensor is not necessary. Tighten the clamping screw (5) again after adjusting the desired stroke. Linear Module LM 25* LM 5* LM LM 2 LM 3 Max. permissible screw tightening torque for property class 8.8:.5Nm.5Nm 3.Nm 5.9Nm 5.9Nm * only for clamping of the shock absorber. Clamping of the sensors separately. The maximum possible end position adjustment is specified in the catalog. In order to adapt the shock absorber s characteristic curve to the occurring kinetic energy, the stroke of the shock absorber and thus also the characteristic can be adapted. Adjustment of shock absorber Loosen the securing of the adjusting screw. 2 Set the adjusting screw of the damping adjustment to the desired amount.! Note the adjustment range! 3 Tighten the adjustment screw again. The adjusting screw for the shock absorber LMD (2) can be used to adjust the stroke of the shock absorber to adapt the shock absorber characteristic to the occurring kinetic energy. To do so, loosen the lock nut and turn the adjusting screw (2) to achieve the proper adjustment. The minimum and maximum adjustment values for the end position adjustment are specified in the catalog. 3.3 LM 25-3 en 7

Mounting and commissioning 7.4 Adjustment of the shock absorber strocke The shock absorber stroke is too long and the end position is reached too slowly. The shock absorber stroke is too short and the unit arrives in the end position too abruptly. Optimal shock absorber stroke LM 25-3 en

Mounting and commissioning 7.5 Setting the speed NOTICE Damage to the product is possible! The product can be damaged if it arrives too abruptly in the end position. The exhaust flow control valves and the shock absorbers must be adjusted so that the rotation gradually and smoothly decelerates. Completely close the exhaust flow control valves. 2 Slowly and gradually open the exhaust flow control valves and rotate the load. 3 Further open the exhaust flow control valves until the rotation gradually and smoothly decelerates. If the speed is too low the swivel unit brakes too soon and the end position is reached to slowly. If the speed is too high the swivel unit impacts in the end position and the shock absorber will be overloaded. NOTE NOTE In most cases the rotation will still be too slow. Further adjustment and optimization of the swivel time is achieved via adjusting the shock absorber stroke, ( 7.5, Page 8). 3.3 LM 25-3 en 9

Commissioning 8 Commissioning NOTICE Before commissioning! Please read these instructions carefully. Only with the knowledge of this manual errors can be prevented, and trouble-free operation is ensured. Check technical specifications ( 6, Page 3). Do not use the linear module until you have determined that it is in perfect operating condition, after having checked for compliance with all permissible operating parameters. When mounting loads, take measures to prevent impermissible forces and torques. Do not subject the linear module to loads outside of the operating range. Excessive loads can result in damage or inaccuracy of the guide unit. The maximum permissible loads are specified in our standard catalog. Regulate the operating speed of the cylinder with regulator valves ( 7.2, Page 5). Starting slow, increase the speed until the desired operating speed is reached. NOTICE Risk of mechanical damage of the module! The module must always be adjusted so that no mechanical impacts are produced when reaching the end position LM 25-3 en
