2 (140345) Procedure 1 Disconnect the hose at the selector valve that connects to the filter pump (leave it connected to the filter pump). 2 Attach the sensor bracket to the chassis bracket using the #10-24 screws and nuts. Page 2 of 11

It should mount flush against the drain pan guide to the left, and rest on the horizontal cross-brace. 4 Locate the OQM sensor assembly, a 45 flare fitting and a 90 flare fitting included in the kit.

3 3 Attach the chassis bracket to the fryer chassis using the #10 selfdrilling screws. Install the brackets in the well position immediately to the left of the filter pump (in 3-wells this is well #1, in 4-wells, this is well #2). It should mount flush against the drain pan guide to the left, and rest on the horizontal cross-brace. 4 Locate the OQM sensor assembly, a 45 flare fitting and a 90 flare fitting included in the kit. 5 Thread the 90 flare fitting into the bottom (inlet) of the OQM sensor assembly and tighten so the fitting is pointed towards the right side of the assembly. Angle of the 90 fitting may vary depending on unit size. 6 Thread the 45 flare fitting into the end (outlet) of the OQM sensor assembly and tighten so the fitting is pointed towards the right side of the assembly. 7 Place the OQM sensor assembly in between the studs on the OQM mounting bracket.

8 Locate the clamp and two (2) nuts included in the kit.

10 Locate one white hose included in the kit.

11 Route the hose from the filter pump outlet behind the vertical brace of the chassis and attach it to the

4 7 Place the OQM sensor assembly in between the studs on the OQM mounting bracket. Place the end of the OQM sensor assembly onto the hook end of the OQM mounting bracket. 8 Locate the clamp and two (2) nuts included in the kit. 9 Place the clamp into the studs and secure with the nuts. Tighten with a 3/8 in. nutdriver or socket. 10 Locate one white hose included in the kit. Thread the hose onto the bottom receiver (inlet) of the OQM sensor assembly and tighten. 11 Route the hose from the filter pump outlet behind the vertical brace of the chassis and attach it to the OQM sensor inlet (bottom port). 12 Attach a new white hose from the OQM sensor outlet (rear port) to the inlet of the selector valve. 13 Connect the twist-lock end of the sensor harness to the electronic box. Note that the box can be swiveled for easier connection access. Page 4 of 11

If replacing the control boards, leave the extreme right (end) control board down.

5 14 Locate the access cover, strain relief and the communication cable. 15 Use a Phillips head screwdriver and lower the extreme right (end) control board. If replacing the control boards, leave the extreme right (end) control board down. 16 Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the existing cover from the back of the control board. 17 Route communication cable to the control board. 18 Remove the loop resister from the control and discard. 19 Plug the white 3-pin connector of the new communication cable into the control board

20 Place the 8-pin connector of the communication cable through the hole of the new plate

22 Insert the strain relief into the access panel and around the wires.

6 19 Plug the white 3-pin connector of the new communication cable into the control board where the look resister was previously removed. 20 Place the 8-pin connector of the communication cable through the hole of the new plate cover. 21 Slide the wires into the notch of the access panel. 22 Insert the strain relief into the access panel and around the wires. 23 Secure the access panel in place with a Phillips head screwdriver. 24 Route the communication cable along the tops of all the plumbing and conduits towards the OQM sensor assembly. 25 Align the white dots on the connector and the receiving end on the black box. Press the connector onto the receiving end. The connector will need to be turned 90 to fully lock into the receiver.

485 Jumper cables installation The jumper cables enable each PCU in the fryer to communicate with the OQM sensor & retrieve the %TPM measurement.

The connector will need to be turned 90 to fully lock into the receiver. 26 Reinstall the control board to the factory position. 485 Jumper cables installation The jumper cables enable each PCU in the fryer to communicate with the OQM sensor & retrieve the %TPM measurement. These cables may or may not be present on existing fryers to be retrofit. They must be installed if not present. 27 Locate the 485 Jumper cables. The jumper cables are 3-wire harnesses with 3-pin connectors on each end. 28 Plug the 3-pin connector into the back of the control board. 29 Route the cable from one PCU to the next behind the vertical support. Loop & wire-tie the excess cable. Do this with both PCUs lowered, to leave enough slack to lower the PCUs in the future. 30 The last jumper cable terminates on the right-most PCU. The OQM connector plugs into the adjacent connector, beside the jumper cable connector. 31 Reflash the control boards. For advanced risc machine (ARM) control reflashing, proceed to the next step. For HC-11 control reflashing, go to step 44. Page 7 of 11

33 Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the existing cover from the back of the control board. 34 Locate the USB port on the back of the controls.

8 Reflashing the ARM controls This section is the procedure for reflashing the ARM controls with the new software. 32 Rotate the control board down so that it hinges the lip of the shroud. 33 Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the existing cover from the back of the control board. 34 Locate the USB port on the back of the controls. If no USB port is available than proceed to step 44 for HC-11 control reflashing procedure 35 Insert the USB Drive. 36 Press and hold the TEMP & INFO button until LEVEL 3 is displayed. 37 Enter the password Press the button once and FLASH SOFTWARE will be display. 9 39 Display will show MAIN FLASH. Press the 1 button to confirm. 40 Control will display software part number on right side display. Verify part number (83829C). Press 1 to continue. 41 Control will display CONFIRM on the left side display. Press CHECKING FILE will be displayed indicating that the software is being reflashed. 43 When reflashing is complete, control will power down and display OFF. Reflashing the HC-11 controls This section is the procedure for reflashing the HC-11 controls with the new software. 44 Rotate the control board down so that it hinges the lip of the shroud. 45 Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the existing cover from the back of the control board. 46 Locate the programmer. The extender needs to be attached to the end of the ribbon cable before next step. Page 9 of 11

47 Plug the programmer into the bottom, left connector (circled in the image to the right). 48 Green light on the programmer will flash to indicate it is properly connected.

If the light is red, this indicates an issue. 49 Press the red button on the programmer. 50 Light will stay green while programming the control. 51 Light will flash green when it is verifying. 52 Once complete, the light will shut off. If the light is red, this indicates an issue. 53 It is now safe to disconnect the programmer. 54 Install the back cover to the control board. 55 Place the control board back to factory location and secure. 11 Initializing the controls This section is the procedure for initializing the control board 56 Confirm the power on the front of the controller is OFF. 57 Press and hold the TEMP button while pressing the heat button. ---MFG MODE--- will display Enter for the access code. 59 EL ASSY FRYR PNL will display. Press the right button under the word FRYR. 60 Press the or until INIT shows in the display. 61 Press and hold the button. The display shows INIT IN then flashes INIT. Once completed INIT *DONE* will be displayed. 62 Turn the controller OFF then back ON. The controller may require to set time and date. 63 Repeat the Reflashing and Initializing procedure for the remaining control boards. Page 11 of 11
