4 The advantage to off-set horizontal feed rollers is it offers the ability to easily feed large diameter material and they offer the ability to increase the crushing power for branchy material allowing the operator to spend less time sawing the material to size before they feed the chipper. Additionally, the advantage of off-set lower roller is that the lower roller feeds the upper roller and helps pull material in to the cutter drum.

5 Infeed opening 13 height 17 wide The large infeed opening allows more material to be pulled into the cutter drum and therefore requires less work for the operator.

6 Manual Crush allows the operator to apply hydraulic down pressure to the upper roller which in turn, crushes branchy material allowing for easier feeding of the chipper. The two pump system (1 for the upper roller and 1 for the lower roller) on the BC1200XL means that when the manual crush lever is engaged, hydraulic oil will be divided between the lower roller and the hydraulic down pressure cylinders. In an effort to help eliminate any stalling of the lower roller when down pressure is engaged, the BC1200XL also offers Crush Power Adjustment which allows the operator to manually back-off the amount of down pressure and divert more hydraulic oil to the lower roller. This is a feature not offered my any competitors.

7 SmartFeed is a patented feed sensing control system which monitors engine rpm and automatically stops or reverses feed rollers when feeding larger, hardwood material. SmartFeed also senses feed roller jams and responds by automatically shifting material back and forth, reducing the need for manual control bar manipulation. With a simple switch, operators can choose between three rpm droop settings to fit the jobs specific application. This exclusive system from Vermeer helps increase operator productivity and reduces strain on vital engine parts, as rpm settings are adjustable and automatically monitored. Three control settings offer improved versatility for varying applications.

8 3385 lb ( kg) of theoretical pull-in force. The combination of feedroller orientation, feedroller diameter, manual crush, infeed area, SmartFeed and pull-in force allow less trimming of material before feeding it into the BC1200XL.

9 Clutchless PTO cutter drum engagement allows the cutter to be engaged without using a traditional slip clutch or idler pulley and without sliding the engine. The system is simple to maintain, once under the shield, belt changes are easily accomplished with out the use of tools.

13 The BC1200XL is the first 12 machine manufactured by Vermeer Corporation to offer a winch option. This option can offer a customer flexibility when handling large material or material in hard-to-reach places. The winch option will be supplied by Vermeer Corporation to the dealer not installed. This allows the dealer added flexibility with inventory and can be added by the dealer in 4 hours. The winch features the winch inter-lock system that operates similar to the BC1500, BC1800XL & BC2100XL. Please see the winch inter-lock presentation for proper operation.
