4 Caper Chairs 4 Methodology and Dimension Description The following measurements are taken with the BIFMA CMD per the Universal Measurement Procedure for the use of BIFMA Chair Measuring Device, BIFMA/CMD-1-98a, draft 18-Jan-98. Rest to Angle Range Width Lumbar Support Range Pan Angle Overall Width Distance between the floor and where the user s thigh meets the seat. Depth Distance from the rear to the front edge of the seat. Width Width of the chair seat at the narrowest point. Pan Angle angle in relation to the floor. -to- Pan Angle Angle between the back and the seat pan at centerline. Distance from the seat to the highest point of the back. Lumbar Support of the lumbar support region as measured from the bottom to the most forward point of the lumbar support. Width Narrowest width of the back. Arms, Inside Measurement Narrowest distance between the arms. Arm pad Distance from the bottom to the highest point of the arm pad. 10 Caper Chairs 10 Multipurpose Chair Description WC111 WC121 This multipurpose chair has a molded, flexible back that is perforated and contoured. It has a biomechanical tilt mechanism that synchronizes the movement of the chair's seat and back, pneumatic seat-height adjustment, and 5-star base with casters. The chair has 2 seat options: the molded seat is perforated and contoured; the FLEXNET seat is suspension material. It is available with or without arms. All chairs meet CAL 133 requirements. The multipurpose chair is breathable and distributes the user's weight evenly. Each chair is lightweight and mobile and has a cutout in the back for easy movement. Construction and Molded The back and molded seat shall be injection-molded, glass-filled, textured, integral-color nylon. attaches to frame with lock fit between arm plug or arm support. The frame shall be made of 7/8 diameter tubular steel, and finished with a powder-coat paint. has molded-in handhold to assist user in moving or stacking of chair. FLEXNET The FLEXNET seat shall consist of an injection-molded, glass-filled polypropylene frame with locking pins to which the durable, breathable FLEXNET material (69% elastomer and 31% polyester) is attached. The FLEXNET material shall be a knitted blend of 69% elastomer and 31% polyester yarns. Snap fit cover of injection-molded, glass-filled polypropylene completes the seat assembly. At the seat s waterfall front edge, a cushioning insert of molded urethane foam shall be fitted between the FLEXNET material and the seat frame. Arms (Optional) Arms shall be self-skinning urethane with a cast steel insert. Arms can be added or removed on site. (See Herman Miller Service Parts Information.) Base The 5-star base shall be die-cast aluminum, with a powder-coat epoxy finish. The chair shall swivel 360 degrees. The base shall house a unitized pneumatic seat height adjustment mechanism contained in 2 steel tubes; an inner tube shall slide and rotate in an Acetal bushing within an outer tube. The outer tube shall be coated in black and shall have a tapered end that will be pressed into the base and an upper end that will be pressed into the tilt mechanism. 11 Caper Chairs 11 Multipurpose Chair Adjustments Adjustments Continued height shall be controlled by an injection-molded push button attached to a steel lever and located on the chair s right front side. The approximate seat height range shall be 16 to 21 ½. Tilt The bio-mechanical, synchronous tilt mechanism shall be comprised of a 2 3/8 coiled steel compression spring, a gear-driven tension adjustment and a die-cast aluminum housing finished in powder-coat epoxy to match base. The tilt-tension adjustment lever shall extend from the right side of the tilt and shall be steel, with a powder-coat epoxy finish. A textured, molded tilt-tension knob shall be pressed onto the lever. The tilt shall allow the user s body to recline to support a range of postures, pivoting at the ankles, knees and hips. The back-to-seat ration shall be 2:1 when the chair is reclined from a neutral angle. The chair will have a total reward recline of 16 degrees. Performance Data This chair is tested and warranted for use by people 300 pounds and under. This chair shall meet CAL 133 fire code requirements.

It has 2 seat options: the molded seat is perforated and contoured; the FLEXNET seat is suspension material. Each chair is breathable and distributes the user s weight evenly. All chairs meet CAL 133 requirements. The chair is lightweight and mobile. The molded seat chair without arms weights 9.5 lbs. for the and 10.5 lbs. with arms, and the FLEXNET chair without arms weights 10.5 lbs. and with arms 11.5 lbs. It has molded-in handles and 4"-diameter casters: 2 swivel and 2 rigid. The cart is single-piecemolded construction that ships fully assembled. Finish is black. Dimensions Width Length /4 42 3/4 Construction Body The cart body shall be of a single piece, thermoformed, black ABS plastic construction with molded-in handles. Casters Cart has four, 4"-diameter nylon casters, 2 that swivel and 2 that are fixed for control and steering.
