19 Description 2- ection 2 Description. Introduction This manual provides the necessary information to install an E-350 electric gun into a new or existing installation. Also provided is information on maintenance procedures, troubleshooting procedures, parts list information and installation information for installing a Nordson 700 series gun driver. This manual applies to all models of the E-350 series of guns. All models of the E-350 guns operate on 220/240 VAC. The gun is activated by the gun driver, which supplies the appropriate power to the coil through a separate two-pin connector and cordset. Power to the heater, the RTD signal and ground are through the hose-to-gun cordset Fig. 2- E-350 Electric Guns (hown are the E-35 and E-353). E-35 electric gun 2. E-353 electric gun

20 2-2 Description Design Flexibility The E-350 series of guns include a variety of configurations to meet most application needs. Besides single module (E-35) and triple module (E-353), there are two module (E-352) and four module guns (E-354 and E-354 LP) available, as well. The bead pattern of these guns can be modified by substituting one or more blank modules for operating modules (refer to ection 7, Parts, for the blank module part number). Other configurations are possible and available also. If you go over six gun modules per channel, another 700 series driver is required. Functional Description During operation, molten adhesive is supplied to the E-350 gun by the pump in the applicator. The material enters the inlet port and is directed through the manifold and into the module seat to the armature, which contains the ball that fits against the seat. When the coil is energized, the armature lifts the ball off the seat. The pressurized adhesive is extruded through the opening in the seat while the ball is held off its seat by the magnetic attraction of the coil. When the timer de-energizes the driver, the coil loses its magnetic attraction and the armature return spring forces the ball against its seat, stopping material flow Fig. 2-2 E-350 Electric Gun Operation.
