Gen IV Spring Replacement MCD Roller Shades 1 2 Pictured are the tools required for replacing the Spring Mechanism. 1/8 allen wrench; #2 slotted screwdriver Slide the top of the bracket out of the black aluminum extrusion. 6 Unroll the shade material fully until you see the aluminum tubing. COLEMAN-MACH DICOR AIRXCEL, INC. - MCD Innovations Place the Roller that you are working on in front you as pictured. Now it is safe to remove the other bracket along with the black aluminum extrusion. 8 7 Using the 1/8 allen wrench, back the set screw out located on the top of the Roller Shade Assembly. DO NOT REMOVE! Please pull the shade that is working correctly down a few inches as if you were covering your window. This will keep your spring tension in the correct place. 9 On the right-hand side, carefully pull the material away just enough so that it is no longer attached to the black plastic end. MAXXAIR 3303 N. McDonald St. McKinney, TX Using your slotted screw driver, locate the slots and carefully pry the spring mechanism out of the tube. MCD INNOVATIONS

Gen IV Spring Replacement MCD Roller Shades After removal, if the spring is actually broken, it will look like this. However, if you cannot find a break in the spring s shaft, then replacing the spring might not resolve your issue. If the spring is in fact broken in two, then please follow the next steps Insert the new spring being careful to align all the notches accordingly with the inner profile of the aluminum tubing. Be sure to press the spring completely in Always remember that all individual rollers are manufactured the exact same way. This means that the black Adjustment Wheel will always fit into the Spring Mechanism and the grey Adjustment Wheel will always fit into the Auto-Stop. Reassemble the Roller Shade Assembly, making sure the tabs on the ends of the rollers are aligned with the slots in the Adjustment Wheels Leave a distance between 1/16 1/8 of play so that the shade will function properly. COLEMAN-MACH DICOR AIRXCEL, INC. - MCD Innovations Once the spring is in position, firmly press your material back on the roller and carefully roll the material back up. DO NOT PRESS THE END BRACKETS TOO TIGHT!!! This will create excess pressure against the ends of the rollers not allowing the internal mechanism to work properly. 18 Retighten the set screw snug enough to prevent the bracket from slipping. MAXXAIR 3303 N. McDonald St. McKinney, TX To add tension to the new Spring Mechanism, turn the black Adjustment Wheel clockwise approximately 13 revolutions. This is a good starting point. You may have to add more tension by turning the Adjustment Wheel the same direction or possibly turn it counter-clockwise to reduce the tension when testing. MCD INNOVATIONS

Replacing the AutoStop in a MCD Shade To change the AutoStop (see photo below) you must remove the shade assembly from the mounting clips and then remove the L bracket on the side of the assembly that has the Gray wheel (or black wheel with the white marks are on if an older shade) or Gray screwdriver adjustment (Gold Series shade). Loosen the allen screw located on the top of the L bracket and slide the bracket off. The roller tube adjusters are attached to the bracket and they will pull out of the tubes. DO NOT remove the screws in the L brackets that hold the adjusters on, only the upper allen screw on the top of the L bracket. With the roller tube out of the bracket, unroll the shade material until you see where it is attached to the aluminum tube. Peel back the shade material off the black end of the AutoStop that is sticking out of the tube. Normally you only need to peel the shade material back about 1/4. Pull the old AutoStop straight out of the roller tube. Note how the AutoStop is in the inside keyway in the tube as you remove it. Get the new AutoStop and be sure the green adjustment nut is lightly against the stop before putting it into the tube. Put the new AutoStop into the tube the same way the old one came out. Re-roll the shade material onto the tube and stop it about where you want it to hang when it is mounted in the valance. You can now put the L bracket back into the upper track and align the tabs sticking out from the roller tubes with the adjusters and slide the L bracket into the track and the tubes. Be sure there is about 1/16 of side to side play in the tubes after you tighten the allen screw to hold the L bracket. This will prevent the tubes from binding. If you want to test the shade before mounting, be sure you get a helper to hold the shade by the L brackets (not in the middle of the shade) and pull down and test. If there is no tension, use the black wheel to tension the spring. Turn the black wheel 8-10 turns clockwise looking at it from the end. Test the shade. Put more or less turns on the spring depending on the speed at which the shade is going up. Turn clockwise if it is going up too slowly and counterclockwise if too fast. The shade should travel up at a steady rate of speed, but not very fast. To adjust the stop point of the shade when it goes up, allow the shade to go up and stop. If it is at a stop point, you will be able to turn the Gray wheel (or black wheel with the white marks are on if an older shade) or Gray screwdriver adjustment (Gold Series shade - AutoStop adjuster) either direction and the shade will move. If the shade does not move, you will need to turn the adjuster in the direction you want the lower hem rail to go. If you want the hem rail higher, turn the adjuster so the material is rolling onto the shade roller, thus moving it up. If you want the hem rail lower, turn the adjuster so the material is rolling off the shade roller, thus moving it down. Make only small adjustments at a time and pull the shade down testing it as you proceed. When finished, remount the shade into the clips. Put the upper track into the clip with the side towards the wall first and then snap the inside of the track into the mounting clips. Sometimes a flat bladed screwdriver needs to be used to push up on the track to snap it into the clips. Again, test the shade.

MCD BLACK PEARL MOTORS WITH LOW VOLTAGE SENTRY FEATURE MCD Black Pearl roller shade motors have a patent-pending Sentry early warning low voltage alert function. If voltage starts to drop in the coach/unit, the motor will give an early warning that the voltage is lower than it should be. Set limits will not be lost or changed due to voltage variations. Low Voltage Sentry Motors operate as follows: REMOTE MOTORS 13.5VDC VDC - Standard motor operational voltage 11.4VDC VDC - Motor operates but at a slower speed 9.9VDC - 7.5VDC - Motor emits 10 beeps; Motor operates but at an even slower speed 7.4VDC and lower - Motor does not beep and will not operate; Motor retains set limits SWITCHED MOTORS 13.5VDC VDC - Standard motor operational voltage 11.4VDC VDC - Motor operates but at a slower speed 10.4VDC - 9.5VDC - Motor emits 3 beeps; Motor operates but at an even slower speed 9.4VDC - 8.5VDC - Motor emits 3 beeps and will not operate; Motor retains set limits 8.4VDC and lower - Motor does not beep and will not operate; Motor retains set limits Additional features and benefits of the Black Pearl Motor include: More robust with a stronger gear box (over 25%) Up to three times more holding power Larger drive gear for added contact and engagement Six point motor support system vs. two point support system Fixed Soft-Touch programming switch Easy to identify color coded wires

MCD Switch motor shade limit adjustment Please read in its entirety before attempting to adjust limits Caution: never manually roll either the day or the night shade onto the roller tube. This can potentially destroy the motor assembly in the tube and it will void your warranty. If either shade will not go up after trying to reprogram them, start at the bottom of the shade material and roll the shade onto itself all the way up to the tube and fasten it with a bungee cord, rope or another securing device. To Program the Shade: For all non-windshield shades please follow steps 2-4 only 1. Locate the Learning Key (button) for the shade you want to set the limits for. The button will be on the motor side of the shade where the power wires go into the unit. The button is attached to a small green wire set. Turn your ignition key switch on. You will now set the upper limit and middle limit of the shade, above your eye level. This is called the ignition on setting. Note: you may need two people to perform this adjustment depending on where the buttons and switches are located. 2. Press and hold the Learning Key (button) and, at the same time, press and hold the rocker switch which controls that particular shade, until you hear a series of beeps. Once you hear the beeps, release the learning button and continue to hold the rocker switch until it gets close to the upper or lower limit you want the shade to be set at. Release the dash button. You can now bump the shade button in the same direction of travel by repeatedly pressing it until you get it to the limit position you desire. Reverse the shade direction (up or down) from the direction you were initially moving the shade and do not release the button until the shade reaches the other limit you want to set. You will first hear one to three beeps before the shade travels in the opposite direction. This indicates that that limit has been set. Note: this adjustment is for ignition ON so be sure you set your lower limit above your eye level. This is a safety feature and the shade should NOT go all the way to the dash with the ignition key switch on. The lower limit must not block your view of the road on either the day or night shade. 3. You can now once again bump the shade in the same direction of the desired limit. When there, reverse the shade travel with the dash switch. One to three beeps are heard and the shade will begin traveling that direction. Both limits are now locked in. You can release the rocker switch. 4. Test the shade limits by pushing the dash switch up to the upper limit and down to the lower limit. If all is well, you can now perform the same adjustment on the other shade (day or night) with the ignition on if you desire. Note: once the ignition ON settings is changed, you MUST reset the limits for ignition off on the same shade. Changing the adjustments in one mode affects the other mode.

MCD Switch motor shade limit adjustment Setting the shade limits with the ignition OFF: The procedure is the same as above, but with the ignition off, you can bring either shade totally down to the dash for complete coverage of the windshield when you are parked. Note: if you release the dash button too soon when reversing the direction of the shade and you have a long distance to your stop point limit, the motor will only allow you to bump the shade up or down a little at a time. It may be quicker to reverse the direction again, which takes it out of the learning mode, and begin the procedure all over again (item #2 above) by holding both buttons and waiting for the beeps. Programming at a Glance Turn the coach ignition ON (if it is a non-windshield shade please skip). Use the correct Learning Key attached to the green wire hanging from the motor end of the shade. Press and hold both the rocker switch and the learning key at the same time until the shade beeps. Release the learning key first and continue to hold the rocker switch. Continue the same direction with the shade. Release the rocker about mid-way down the windshield, just so you can see under the shade while driving. This is the lower limit. If you need to go further down, the shade will now bump down a bit by pushing and releasing the rocker repeatedly. You can only bump the shade in the direction you were traveling. Once at the desired position, reverse the rocker switch, the shade will beep then move. Bring the shade up to where you want it to stop at the upper limit. Again, you can bump it up if needed but not down. Finally, reverse the rocker switch once again and go down a few inches and release. This will take the shade motor out of the programming mode. Test the shade by running it down and see if it stops at the lower limit. Test the shade by running it up and see if it stops at the upper limit. If both limits are set, you can now perform the same steps with the ignition OFF. Note: with the ignition OFF, be sure to bring the shade all the way down to the dash, not just to the half-way position.

Directions for Setting Remote Controlled Shade Motor Limits 14-Channel Remote Directions to Link and Set Limits If you do not have the two small holes drilled in the face of your 14-channel remote, the cover of the remote must be removed for Key 1 and Key 2 access. Select the button on the 14 channel remote you want to link the shade to. Start the motor beeping by holding the learning button at the shade until it just starts beeping, then release. Link with Key 2 on the Remote: While motor is beeping, press and hold Key 2 (left hand button) to link remote to the motor. A Chirp will be heard if successful. NOTE: In rare cases, Key 1 will marry the remote to the shade. Try this only after several attempts are made using Key 2 above with no results. Program with Key 1 on the remote: Press and hold Key 1 (right hand button) to get into the program mode. You will hear the motor Chirp. Confirming the upper and lower limits: Lower the shade with the DOWN button and manually stop it by pressing the STOP button where you want the lower limit to be set. Note: You can bump the shade up or down (1/2 at a time) once you stop the initial movement of the shade as it first travels up or down. This allows you to accurately set the limit where you want the shade to stop. When you have the shade positioned properly, press Key 2 to confirm that limit. A Chirp should be heard. UP STOP DOWN KEY 2 KEY 1 Using the UP button, move the shade to the upper stop position and manually stop the shade by pressing the STOP button. Bump the shade up or down to position it correctly and, again, press Key 2. You are now out of the programming mode. Test the shade limits: start by pressing the DOWN button on the 14-channel remote and keep your finger near the STOP button. If the shade does not stop at the limit you set, stop it manually. If the shade stops at the limit properly, press the UP button and test the upper stop point. Again, Be sure to keep your finger near the stop button in case the limit is exceeded. If the upper and lower stop points work properly, you are done. NOTE: If the shade goes UP when you push the DOWN button, you can easily change the direction of the motor by holding the STOP button for that shade and then pushing Key 1, together, until the motor Chirps. The motor should now be reversed. Test the shade to be sure it is correct. If you need to link the shade to the All Night or All Day button on a 14-channel remote, press the All Night/Day button on the remote. Hold the learning button on the shade you want to link until it just starts to beep and release it. Press Key 2 on the 14-channel remote to link to the remote. If the limits were set previously, those parameters are stored in the motor at the shade, so no more programming is necessary. Note: If you need to clear a motor of all its limits, hold the learning button for that shade for three sets of a series of beeps. The series will sound like, beeep, beeep, beep-beep- beep. All previous limits will now be removed and you MUST manually stop the shade. To un-link a shade for either the 2-channel or 14-channel remote: hold learning button on the shade for 1 beep cycle (beeep, beeep, beep-beep-beep), you can then re-link to another button. The shade will un-link from all buttons (individual and all).

2-Channel Remote You must remove the face-plate of the 2-channel remote to access the two keys. Use a paper clip, toothpick or similar to push the Key 1 and Key 2 buttons. Note: You may not be able to link a new shade motor with an old remote if the remote number is Model SF-012. Directions for Setting Remote Controlled Shade Motor Limits New Motor: New Remote Link the shade to the remote: Press the UP button, STOP, or DOWN button on the side of the remote you want associated with the shade you are going to link to. Start the motor beeping by holding the learning button at the shade until it just starts beeping, then release. Press and hold Key 1 on the 2-channel remote to link the shade to the remote. If successful, the motor will emit a chirping sound. The channel is now linked to the shade. Release Key 1. Go into program mode with Key 2: momentarily press the STOP button on the remote on the side you want to program, then press and hold Key 2 to get into the program mode until the motor Chirps, signifying that you are now in the program mode. When you have the shade positioned properly, press and hold Key 1 to confirm that limit until a Chirp is heard, then release. Using the UP button, move the shade to the upper stop position and manually stop the shade by pressing the STOP button. Bump the shade up or down to position it correctly and, again, press Key 1. You are now out of the programming mode. Test the shade limits: start by pressing the DOWN button on the 2-channel remote and keep your finger near the STOP button. If the shade does not stop at the limit you set, stop it manually. If the shade stops at the limit properly, press the UP button and test the upper stop point. Again, Be sure to keep your finger near the stop button in case the limit is exceeded. If the upper and lower stop points work properly, you are done. NOTE: If the shade goes up when you push the DOWN button, you can easily change the direction of the motor by holding Key 2 and then pushing the STOP button for that shade, together, until the motor Chirps. The motor should now be reversed. Test the shade to be sure it is correct. If you want to link the shade to the All Night or All Day button on a 2-channel remote, momentarily press the STOP button on the side of the remote that you want to link the shade to. Hold the learning button on the shade you want to link until it just starts to beep and release it. Press Key 1 on the 2-channel remote to marry to the remote and hold until it Chirps. If the limits were set previously, those parameters are stored in the motor at the shade, so no more programming is necessary. Note: If you need to clear a motor of its limits, hold the learning button for that shade for three sets of a series of beeps. The series will sound like, beeep, beep, beep-beep-beep-beep. All previous limits will now be removed and you MUST manually stop the shade. You now must also re-link the shade to the remote (see above instructions).

MULTIPLE SHADES ON A SINGLE REMOTE CONTROLLER In a situation where you have multiple shades controlled by a single remote controller, you may find the need to make adjustments/repairs to only one shade in the multi shade setup. In this case you will need to unlink all shades except for the one you want to work on, therefore isolating the problem shade. UNLINKING A SHADE/MOTOR FROM A CONTROLLER Press and hold the learning button as the shade begins to beep, continue holding until you hear a set of rapid beeps and then release Shade should no longer be linked to any controller at this point Verify that the shade is unlinked by pressing up/down on the remote that previously controlled it Now that you have the problem shade isolated you can make the needed repair and adjustments following the Remote Programming Guide ADDING AN ADDITONAL REMOTE TO A MULTI-SHADE SETUP Example: In the customers bedroom, they have three shades, all controlled by one remote. The customer wants to add an additional remote to the bedroom so that they may operate the two windows beside the bed separately from the one over the dresser. To do this you will work solely with the shade over the dresser. The shades beside the bed will be left as is. Press and hold the learning button on the dresser shade until it begins to beep, continue holding until you hear a set of rapid beeps and then release Dresser shade should no longer be linked to any controller at this point Verify that the shade is unlinked by pressing up/down on the remote that previously controlled it Using the additional remote, follow the Remote Programming Guide instructions for linking a remote to a shade

RV House Shade Motor Replacement * Please read the entire procedure before proceeding * To change out an RV house shade motor in a Duo or Solo Power Shade Remove the shade by pushing the tabs on the clips up along the shade upper track. A flat bladed screwdriver may be necessary to push the tabs up. The tabs should be facing the inside of the coach in most installations. You could have 2-5 clips for the shade, depending on how wide it is. Keep in mind, to put the shade assembly back up you must put the assembly into the backside of the clip first (toward the wall of the coach) and then push the assembly track up until the track snaps into each clip. 2. When taking the house shade assembly down, you must be careful with the power wires. Hopefully, they have disconnects on the wires so you will not have to cut the wires. If necessary, you can cut the wires. Note that for each motor, one wire is black with a gray trace on it (+) and the other wire in the pair is all black (-). Match them up when reinstalling. You may want to mark the black wire pairs with labels so you know which one is for the night shade and which one goes to the day shade motor. 3. Continue with the shade assembly out and laid down on the floor (or other large surface). Remove the 4 small screws (2 per motor) mounting both motors to the L bracket. Loosen the allen screw(s) at the top of the L bracket which holds the bracket to the mounting track on the motor side of the assembly. Slowly slide the L bracket off the track. Pull the defective motor out of the tube. 4. As you are removing the defective motor, note how the cutout in the motor drive wheel is inserted in the roller extrusion, similar to a keyway. The new motor must be reinserted in this same manner. Insert the new motor into the roller tube. Slide the L bracket into the upper track. Replace the 4 small screws in the motor assemblies to hold them to the L bracket. Allow a very slight amount of free play for the roller tubes to rotate freely (about 1/16 ) and tighten the L bracket allen screw(s) until you see a distinct bulge on the bottom side of the upper track. NOTE: The screw does not have to be super tight to hold, just make it snug. 5. Once the L bracket is tight, route the power wires though the bracket as necessary and prep the power wires for reconnection to the wires in the coach. Bring the shade assembly up to the window area. Reconnect the black power wires. Hold the assembly up to the clips, be sure it is centered in the window area and put the back end of the track into the clips and push up on the front of the track near each clip to snap it into place. A flat bladed screwdriver can be used to carefully push on the track if necessary. 6. Be sure the shade material is not binding on the valance and, if all is okay, you can now test the operation of the shades. Note: You must first marry the new motor to your remote and keep in mind there are NO limits set for the motor you just replaced, so be careful and stop the shade manually after marrying to the remote to see if the shade freely moves up and down. If all is well, proceed to the set limit adjustment for the new motor. Use the MCD Remote Programming Guide to read about different programming variations for motors and remote controllers. This guide will also instruct you on setting the limits for the newly installed motor. If you do not have this guide, it can be ed to you from MCD Tech Support. Call and ask for the Remote Programming Guide.

Shade Coning Issue THE SHADE DOES NOT ROLL UP STRAIGHT (CONING) Some shades have a tendency to cone on the tube to one side or the other when being rolled up. A common indication of this problem is a shade that slows and stops before reaching the top stopping point. In the photos, notice how the fabric on the shade is encroaching the wheel in the picture on the left. While the picture on the right shows the shade is pulling away from the wheel. To fix this, unroll the shade until you can see where the fabric is attached to the roller, apply a small piece of masking tape (3 or 4 inches) on the tube on the opposite end from where the shade is coning. Release the shade and let it travel to the top. Hopefully, this will have corrected your problem. A second or even third piece can be applied to fix more extreme coning issues.
