1.0 General remarks and safety instructions The offered simplek-stick -assembly set (here called as simplek-stick ) will be delivered in individual parts and cannot be used in delivery conditions. The assembly set is only allowed to be used by experts allowing for applicable regulations and standards regarding the equipment. The simplek-stick is compatible with the following E-Bike engines: Bosch (Classic Line, Active Line, Performance Line, Performance Line CX) Yamaha (PW, PW-SE, PW-X, GIANT SyncDrive) Brose Impulse (2.0, EVO RS) The completed assembly set, obstructed in a compatible E-Bike, causes the suspension of the factoryintegrated speed regarding the support of the motor. Thus, the establishment of the completed assembly set, within the scope of the StVO, is forbidden and not accepted. The use of the assembly set is only provided for closed-off public traffics as well as for private grounds and race courses. Please put on a suitable helmet at all times! The usage of the assembly set leads to the loss of warranty concerning the vehicle. Regarding the installation of the E-Bike, please make sure not to damage any cables while installing the protection cover of the motor. Thus, you can prevent electrical shorts which could lead to major cable bruises or fires. Liabilities for any damages will not be assumed (directly or indirectly) that may arise by activating the completed assembly set. Use at your own risk! 3

2.0 Assembling and installation The simplek-stick consists of 4 components only: circuit board (Fig. 1) connection cable (Fig. 2) USB plug (Fig. 3) USB enclosure (Fig. 4) The assembly is simply designed. figure 01 - circuit board figure 02 - connection cable figure 03 USB plug figure 04 - USB enclosure 4

2.1 Assembly The board is already equipped with the SMD components when delivered. Only the USB plug has to be inserted and soldered on the same side. Make sure the plug is fully seated on the board (Fig. 5) before you start soldering. In order to ensure complete protection against water, it is recommended to seal the board with suitable measures (e.g. insulating varnish). The USB housing parts are marked inside with "1" and "2". Insert the board with the components pointing upwards into the housing part "2" (Fig. 6). Now push housing part "1" at an angle with the locking lugs in front into the eyelets of housing part "2" (Fig. 7). Then press the two halves of the housing together at the outer end and snap them into place (Fig. 8). circuit board - front circuit board - back circuit diagram 5

2.2 Installation Before you start with the installation, remove the battery of your E-bikes! The connection cable is upstreamed in front of the original sensor. For this purpose the motor cover has to be removed. Depending on the engine version you need additional tools. 7

Installation based on an engine version active line /performance line: Required tools: Torx 20 wrench 8 mm allen key optional: ISIS crank puller (if you can`t remove the crank per hand) optional: flat not pliers Unscrew the 8 mm allen key (Fig. 9). Remove the crank. If you can`t remove the crank by hand, take a crank puller. Remove the 3 Torx screws with a socket (Fig. 10). Now the engine cover can be removed. If necessary, pull the plug speed sensor with a flat nose pliers (Fig. 11). Now close the industrial plug of the connection cable at the position of the previously unplugged speed sensor. The supplied rubber tube has to be put off the plug of the speed sensor until the sealing blades. Afterwards the speed sensor and the pin connector of the connection cable have to be connected (Fig. 12). The polarity does not need to be considered. Lay the USB connection cable with the supplied cable ties to the desired position of the simplek stick. figure 09 figure 10 Figure 11 figure 12 - moisture protection 8

Installation based on an engine version classic line: Required tools: Torx 20 wrench 8 mm allen key optional: ISIS crank puller (if you can`t remove the crank per hand) optional: flat not pliers Tool for removing the sprocket nut ("spider-tool") Unscrew the 8 mm allen key (Fig. 13). Remove the crank. If you can`t remove the crank by hand, take a crank puller. Remove the sprocket nut with the aid of the spider-tool (Fig. 14). Remove the 3 Torx screws with a socket (Fig. 15). Now the engine cover can be removed. If necessary, pull the plug speed sensor with a flat nose pliers (Fig. 16). Lay the USB connection cable with the supplied cable ties to the desired position of the simplek stick. figure 13 figure 14 figure 15 figure 16 9

3.0 Operation Der simplek-stick includes 2 operation modes: [1] tuning-mode [2] calibration-mode A change from Tuning Mode to Calibration Mode is made by plugging the simplek into any active USB port for at least 5 seconds. The next time you plug in the simplek-stick on the e-bike, the calibration mode starts directly. A calibration is necessary once, so that for each wheel circumference the actual speed in the tuning mode is readable. The tuning mode allows unlimited engine support (theoretically up to 100km/h 62 mph). 10

3.1 Calibration The calibration has to be carried out once and has to be shifted during standstill and with an inserted battery pack. On first start, the calibration will be automatically called up. It consists of two sections. At first it will be grossly calibrated, then more precise. In order to start the calibration mode manually, plug in the simplek-stick into any active USB port for at least 5 seconds. The next time you plug in the simplek- Stick on the e-bike, the calibration mode starts directly. In the first section of the calibration, an increased speed will be displayed on the speedometer. Remove the simplek-stick as closely as possible at 10.0 (mph). If you insert the stick again, precised calibration will be start. You can see the speed on the speedometer which comes closer in small steps to 10.0 (mph). As soon as the 10.0 will be displayed for the first time, again remove the simplek-stick. Thus, the calibration is completed. 3.2 Tuning-Mode The tuning mode is activated as soon as the simplek-stick is inserted. The actually travelled speed remains readable during the tuning-mode. Up to 10.0 (h), the speed is output 1: 1. Above 10.0 (mph), the speed will be displayed over the second number and decimal place. Examples: 5.6 (mph) 5.6 (mph) 10.0 (mph) 10 (mph) 10.5 (mph) 5 (mph) 13.5 (mph) 35 (mph) In order to balance the difference between the actual forward speed and the route displayed on the speedometer, the maximally driven speed will be displayed on the speedometer after one minute whilst standstill until the route will be caught up. As soon as the difference will be balanced, the speedometer displays 0.0 (mph) again and the E-Bike switches off itself independently. If the E-Bike will be switched off in advance, simplek-stick stores the difference with an accuracy of 200m and catches up the route later on. Thus the maximal speed as well as the actually travelled route/total distance will be reproduced correctly Resetting of the maximal speed The maximal speed will be resetted by plugging the simplek-stick into any active USB port for at least 5 seconds. The next time the simplek-stick is plugged in, a new calibration is required, which starts automatically. 11
