1 2UZ-FE ENGINE Engine Control System General The engine control system of the 2UZ-FE engine on the 06 has following systems. System SFI Sequential Multiport Fuel Injection ESA Electronic Spark Advance ETCS-i Electronic Throttle Control System-intelligent VVT-i Variable Valve Timing-intelligent Acoustic Control Induction System Air Injection Fuel Pump Control Air Fuel Ratio Sensor and Oxygen Sensor Heater Control Evaporative Emission Control Outline An L-type SFI system directly detects the intake air mass with a hot wire type mass air flow meter. 06 Model 05 Ignition timing is determined by the based on the signals from various sensors. The corrects ignition timing in response to engine knocking. Optimally controls the throttle valve opening in accordance with the amount of accelerator pedal effort and the conditions of the engine and vehicle. Maintains the temperature of the air fuel ratio sensor or oxygen sensor at an appropriate level to increase accuracy of detection of the oxygen concentration in the exhaust gas. The controls the purge flow of evaporative emission (HC) in the canister in accordance with engine conditions. Approximately five hours after the ignition switch has been turned off, the operates the canister pump module to detect any evaporative emission leakage occurring in the evaporative emission control system through changes in the reference orifice pressure.
