1 Page 1 of 9 18/03/11 Fitting Instructions for MFK690 & MFK690VS INTERFACE WIRING LOOM Thank you for purchasing a product manufactured by Marks 4WD Adaptors. The following instructions are intended as a guide. It is recommend that you obtain your original vehicle's wiring diagram as well as a wiring diagram for your Commodore V8. If you have any further questions that are not covered in the instruction sheet, please refer to your Commodore workshop manual. The GM manuals include very comprehensive diagnostic information and other wiring details not covered in this booklet. 1. Remove the passenger side kick panel inside the cabin. Fit the ECM using the GM mounting carrier. Make sure that the ECM has the Memcal fitted, the ECM will not work without it. 2. Fit the wiring loom to the firewall. Using self-taping screws secure the relay mounting bases. Fit the relays supplied in the kit. Attempting to use non-genuine relays may damage the ECM. 3. Mount the two fuse holders to the inner guard using two self-taping screws. 4. Attach the black earth wire to a reliable earth source. FUEL PUMP WIRING 1. Run the purple wire along the chassis, to the positive side of the high pressure fuel pump and secure it using cable ties. Connect the other terminal on the fuel pump to a reliable earth source on the chassis. MAIN BATTERY FEED 2. Run the Orange wire (2 x 6mm) to the positive terminal on the battery via a 80 amp fusible link. UNDER BONNET WIRING 1. Attach the large Grey plug to the corresponding plug on the GM engine harness. 2. Attach the large White plug to the corresponding plug on the GM engine harness. NOTE 1: Late VS and VT models have a Black and Yellow plug on the loom, for these models we have supplied a loose matching plug with the loom kit. Change the White plug with this one. Double check the wiring colours on the original GM loom correspond to the wiring on our loom. NOTE 2: The Orange wire with the Black trace in the new loom, is the B+ supply wire and should line up with the Red wire with Black trace in the GM loom.

2 Page 2 of 9 3. The one Pink wire is connected to ignition B+. ALTERNATOR WIRING If your engine is not fitted with the GM starter/alternator harness use the small loom supplied in the kit to connect the alternator to the vehicle. 1. Connect the Brown wire to the dash alternator warning light. 2. Connect the Yellow/Blue wire (alternator regulator, battery sense wire) from the interface loom to the battery B+. (This wire in the Commodore harness is usually white) The next 2 steps refer to the two pin GM plug with the small Brown wire and the larger Violet wire. The GM starter/alternator harness should have a white wire connected to the battery B+ terminal, this is the battery sense wire. 3. Connect the Brown wire from the GM loom to the dash alternator warning light. 4. Connect the vehicles starter motor, solenoid wire to the engine starter motor solenoid Violet wire. 5. Attach the large Red wire (supplied in the kit) to the alternator output terminal. Push the rubber boot over the stud and nut. The other end is run directly to the battery. NOTE: This is only required on engines that do not have this wiring in the original GM engine loom. ADDITIONAL EARTH 6. Attach the braided earth wire (as supplied with wiring loom) to the R/H side of the engine onto a rocker cover bolt. Attach the other end to a reliable earth on the inner mudguard. A/C WIRING 7. Run the air conditioning wiring towards the front of vehicle. Connect the air conditioning wire from the interface loom (Black with White trace) to the vehicles original air conditioning compressor clutch wire. (From A/C Control Panel). ELECTRIC ENGINE COOLING FAN WIRING 8. Run the fan wiring towards the front of vehicle. The Orange/Blue stripe wire is connected to the positive terminal of the engine cooling fan motor. Connect the negative side of the motor to a reliable earth. OIL PRESSURE GAUGE WIRING 9. Connect the original oil pressure gauge wire to the vehicles oil pressure sender fitted to the Commodore engine. The Blue wire in the interface wiring loom will not be needed and can be taped up. NOTE: The oil pressure sender must be removed from the old engine, and fitted to the GM engine using the T-piece (part no. MFC677) supplied in the kit. NOTE: Use thread sealer on these threads. OIL WARNING LIGHT WIRING 10. Connect the original oil warning light wire out of vehicle loom to the Blue wire in the interface loom.

3 Page 3 of 9 WATER TEMP GAUGE WIRING 11. Remove the water temperature sender from the V8 engine. 12. Fit the temperature sender adaptor supplied in the kit to the new engine. Then refit the original vehicle temperature sender into the adaptor. NOTE: Use thread sealer on these threads. 13. Connect the vehicle sender wire to the temperature sender. EFI COMPONENT WIRING 14. Connect the oxygen sensor, or sensors, MAP sensor and the throttle body sensors. 15. Run the rest of the GM loom in to the cabin. See the following photo. 16. Plug the loom into the ECM.

4 Page 4 of 9 The photo above is a VN-VP loom fitted with the 6-pin diagnostic plug on the left and the 9-pin plug bottom centre. Ignition Supply 9-Pin Plug ECM SUPPLY AND DIAGNOSTIC WIRING UNDER DASH 17. For GM harnesses fitted with a 9-pin plug near the ECM/PCM use the corresponding 9-pin plug supplied in the kit, make sure that the pink wires correspond with the GM loom. NOTE: Some GM looms only require one Pink wire to be fitted, if this is the case in yours, the one that is not used can be removed. 18. Connect the end of the Pink wire to ignition B Connect the Brown wire to the Brown/White wire in the GM loom, this wire is for the diagnostic test light and is connected through the GM loom to the ECM pin A Connect the other end to a suitable lamp in the dash, the other side of the lamp must be connected to the ignition B+. 10-Pin Plug 21. For GM harnesses fitted with a 10-pin plug near the ECM/PCM use the corresponding 10-pin plug supplied in the kit, make sure that the pink wires correspond with the GM loom. NOTE: Some GM looms only require one Pink wire to be fitted, if this is the case in yours, the one that is not used can be removed.

5 Page 5 of Connect the end of the Pink wire to ignition B Connect the Brown wire to the Brown/White wire in the GM loom, this wire is for the diagnostic test light and is connected through the GM loom to the ECM pin A Connect the other end to a suitable lamp in the dash, the other side of the lamp must be connected to the ignition B Complete the wiring inside the cabin and refit the kick panel. 26. Recheck the wiring and make sure it is all in place. 27. Fit the battery and connect. 6 Page 6 of 9 This kit has been designed to fit a Commodore TH700/4L60E transmission shifter into almost any vehicle. The shifter in most cases can protrude through the original gear lever boot without any modification. MFK1145/4R and MFK1145/H These kits have been designed to fit a Commodore TH700/4L60E transmission shifter into a Hilux/4Runner. The shifter protrudes through the original gear lever boot without any modification to the external appearance of the console. Display The display features all of the gear shift points in their respective positions and is illuminated with green LED's while the ignition is turned on. To indicate the gear you have selected a single red LED is illuminated next to the corresponding gear. The display also features a fault indicator (the letter F) that is illuminated by a green LED when the ECM/PCM has detected a fault with one of the engine sensors. The display also features a lock indicator (the letter L) that is illuminated by a green LED when the torque converter clutch is locked. These instructions assume the engine and transmission are removed from the vehicle. 1. Remove the console. Fitting Instructions for Toyota Hilux 4/Runner 2. Remove the gear lever and hi-low lever boot. 3. Panel beating of the transmission tunnel in 2 places is required. The first place is on the right-hand side where the cooler pipes exit the transmission and where the modulator cap protrudes. 4. The second place is on the left-hand side; this is to clear the transmission shift rod and linkages. 5. Fit the engine and transmission as per the relevant instructions. 6. Remove the shifter from the Commodore base plate by removing the linkage arm, the nut and fibre washer holding the pivot to the base plate and then grind the heads off the 2 rivets located in the bottom of the base. 7. Remove the shifter knob and locking lever from the shifter shaft. To do so tap the roll-pin out of the locking lever. The knob is glued to the shaft and can easily be removed by making a wooden drift with a slot cut into it to allow it to fit over the shifter shaft under the knob. The wooden drift can then be hit with a hammer to remove the knob. 8. Fit the shifter to the new base plate (4Runner part No. MFC1215), (Hilux part No. MFC1199) with the TPS mounting bracket (MFC1144) sandwiched between them. Secure them using the 2 M6 x 15 bolts (MFC783), 2 M6 washers (MFC147), and 2 M6 nuts (MFC061). 9. Fit the fibre washer and large nut to the pivot. 10. Refit the linkage arm. 11. Fit the TPS drive shaft (MFC1145) over the lever nut. 12. Fit the TPS over the end of the drive shaft and into the TPS bracket. Secure the TPS using the 2 M4x12mm button socket screws (MFC1238), 2 M4 flat washers (MFC199), 2 M4 spring washers (MFC1240), and 2 M4 nuts (MFC1208). NOTE: The TPS should be set roughly in mid position. 13. Fit the shifter assembly in to the floor pan using the 2 original front screws to align its position. 14. Fit the shifter cover plate (MFC1216) over the hi/low gear lever boot. Using it as a template cut the gear lever end of the boot off. 15. Remove the shifter assembly and apply a suitable sealer to the shifter base. 16. Fit the shifter assembly in to the floor pan using the 2 original front screws to align its position. 17. Fit the shift rod to the shift lever and the transmission. Modification to the shift rod will be required, as it will be too long. It may also require bending. NOTE: Do not attempt to alter the length of the lever on the transmission or the shifter. 18. Adjust the shift rod to allow both the shifter and the transmission shift positions to line up correctly. 19. Fit the hi/low shifter boot and the cover plate (MFC1216) using the original screws to secure it to the floor pan. NOTE: A suitable sealer should be used under the boot. 20. Temporarily fit the console over the shift lever then sit the shift knob on top of the shift lever. Universal Fitting Instructions 1. Remove the shifter from the Commodore base plate by removing the linkage arm, the nut and fibre washer holding the pivot to the base plate and then grind the heads off the 2 rivets located in the bottom of the base.

7 Page 7 of 9 2. Remove the shifter knob and locking lever from the shifter shaft. To do so tap the roll-pin out of the locking lever. The knob is glued to the shaft and can easily be removed by making a wooden drift with a slot cut into it to allow it to fit over the shifter shaft under the knob. The wooden drift can then be hit with a hammer to remove the knob. 3. Modify the shifter base plate to allow the TPS and is mounting bracket to fit between the base plate and the shifter. 4. Fit the shifter to the modified base plate with the TPS mounting bracket (MFC1144) sandwiched between them. Secure them using the 2 M6 x 15 bolts (MFC783), 2 M6 washers (MFC147), and 2 M6 nuts (MFC061). 5. Fit the fibre washer and large nut to the pivot. 6. Refit the linkage arm. 7. Fit the TPS drive shaft (MFC1145) over the lever nut. 8. Fit the TPS over the end of the drive shaft and into the TPS bracket. Secure the TPS using the 2 M4x12mm button socket screws (MFC1238), 2 M4 flat washers (MFC199), 2 M4 spring washers (MFC1240), and 2 M4 nuts (MFC1208). NOTE: The TPS should be set roughly in mid position. 9. Apply a suitable sealer to the shifter base and fit the shifter assembly in to the floor pan. 10. Fit the shift rod to the shift lever and the transmission. Modification to the shift rod may be required. NOTE: Do not attempt to alter the length of the lever on the transmission or the shifter. 11. Adjust the shift rod to allow both the shifter and the transmission shift positions to line up correctly. 12. Temporarily fit the shift knob on top of the shift lever. Instructions all models 1. Fit digital display under the dash close to the shifter. NOTE: Be sure to put it in a position that is easy to see at a glance. Secure it using the 2 M5 self-taping screws (MFC352) and 2 M5 spring washers (MFC1061). 2. Connect the 3-pin loom plug to the TPS. TCC lock up wire VN, VP, with TH700 Transmissions 3. Connect the white wire on the display (TCC lock up wire) to the Grey/red wire located on pin A7 at the ECM. VR with 4L60E Transmissions 4. If your engine uses a PCM connect the white wire to the Grey/red wire located on pin A9 at the PCM. 5. VS, VT with 4L60E Transmissions 6. If your engine uses a PCM connect the white wire to the Grey/red wire located on pin C1 at the PCM. VN, and VP VR VS Diagnostic Fault wire 7. Connect the blue wire on the display (diagnostic Fault wire) to the Brown/white wire located on pin A5 at the ECM. 8. If your engine uses a PCM connect the blue wire to the Brown/white wire located on pin A7 at the PCM. 9. Connect the blue wire on the display (diagnostic Fault wire) to the Brown/white wire located on pin F5 at the PCM. Power Connection All Models 10. Connect the Black wire to B- or earth. 11. Connect the Red wire to B+ ignition. 12. Turn the ignition on, all of the 7 Green LED's under shift points 1 through to P will be illuminated the diagnostic light (F) will also be illuminated. One of the Red LED's will also be illuminated. Put the shifter into the 4 th gear position

8 Page 8 of 9 and adjust the TPS position to align the Red LED adjacent to the 4 th gear position. Move the shifter to the Park position and then to the 1 st gear position, if the Red LED's don't line up properly re-adjust the TPS until they do. NOTE: If you can't get them to line up exactly a trim pot is provided which will expand or contract the display range to aid with the alignment. 1. Remove the cover from the display. 2. A small vertical trim pot is located on the lower left-hand side of the printed circuit board. Make your adjustments small a few degrees at a time. Each time you adjust the pot move the shifter the full range 1 st to park. If necessary readjust the TPS for correct alignment. Subject VR 4L60-E Automatic Transmission Installation Notes: Power economy switch. The Blue wire from pin B1 on the PCM, connect this wire to the power economy switch and the other side of the switch to earth. ( for normal operation open circuit for power connected to earth) Subject - TH700R4 Automatic Transmission When installing TH700R4 transmission the following wiring must be completed. (Check your GM manual as wiring colours may vary in some models.the wiring below is the most common.) You can obtain the plugs and looms from any GMH wrecker.
