1 Nock s Volley Gun (789) 1744 Short Land Musket for Dragoons (728) In 1780 the ordinance department ordered 500 of these seven barrel Nock's Volley Guns. The first 3 of these weapons were rifled, but it was found that the rifling was not necessary so all later models were smooth bore. There are 6 outside barrels located around a central barrel. The barrels are 20 " long in.50 caliber. After removing the lock, the barrel section unscrews from the breech unit. The central barrel fires the outside barrels. When first brought into service it had a wooden rammer with the early style lock plate. Notice the lock panel shaping and comb. Actually it is very distinctive in these features. 2 1756 Light Dragoon Pistol (917) Pattern 1833 Manton Carbine (747) This carbine is the last official flint lock of the British Army and was a result of the trials that began in 1827, it is a composite of many ideas. It is.66 caliber with a 20 " barrel. The lock is very similar to Nocks screwless lock but has an external hammer so moisture couldn't creep into the lock mortise. The lock plate measures 5 3/8 " x 1 1/8 ". The throw of the cock is 1 1/2 ". This new pistol came out in 1756, reducing the barrel length to 10". The barrel was in.66 caliber, which was the same as the carbines. 3 1756 Long Land Pattern (549) First Model Brunswick Rifle (673) This is the last of the Long Land series Muskets. This model has the metal ramrod and different thimbles. The lock is straight but still has only one screw showing behind the cock. The lock panels are plain with no carving or tear drops. The forearm is slightly fuller and the cast brass nose cap is standard on this model. It has a 46 " tapered round barrel, it is available in.75 or.77 caliber. 4 Paget Carbine (601B) Elliot Light Dragoon Pistol (568) Adopted in 1808, this was the basic weapon of the English Cavalry till about Widely used during the Napoleonic Wars as were the Baker Rifle and Baker Carbine. This weapon was sold to Mexico and used against Americans. The Barrel is tapered round 16 " in.65 or.66 caliber. The lock plate measures 4 5/8 " x 7/8. 5 Flat Lock Carbine Bore Baker (714) Round Lock Carbine Bore Baker (501) This is the most basic design Baker that was settled on and is the most common design that was used throughout the Napoleonic Wars. The very sturdy flat lock with beefy internals was used all the way to The tumbler has a fly so the trigger can be adjusted very light if desired. Heavy springs make this lock fast and dependable. The patchbox is the two compartment design with one compartment for precut patches, the other for the cleaning jag and flints. You will find some of the later productions of this model with the rounded end patchbox. We have reproduced this rifle, as it is considered the first and most predominate production pattern. The barrel is 30.5 " in length with a.62 caliber. The stock has just the right amount of drop and pull to make this the best handling of all the baker designs. Balls were going to be issued with patches tied around them. At first these patchboxes started appearing on flat lock guns. Then in 1823 the round faced 1796 carbine lock was re adopted along with the new non adjustable rear sight. We also have the 1823 non adjustable rear sight. These later Baker Rifles do not have quite as much drop or length of pull as the earlier Baker Rifles.
