Operation directional valves consist of a 5-chamber style main body, a case hardened sliding spool, and a pilot valve or pilot operators (hydraulic or pneumatic). Example: Find the pressure drop at 76 LM (20 GM) for a D31 with a number 1 spool. o the right of spool number 1, locate the number 3 in the - column, and 2 in the - column. Using the graph at the bottom, locate curves 2 and 3 and read the pressure drop values. otal pressure drop through the valve is the sum of the two values. Note: ressure drops should be checked for all flow paths, especially when using non-symmetrical spools (003, 005, 007, 014, 015 and 016) and unbalanced actuators.
