2 Factory Radio Removal 1. Before proceeding, eject disc(s) from factory unit if present. 2. Set parking brake and disconnect negative battery cable to prevent any electrical short. FIGURE 1 FIGURE 4 3. Starting on the passenger s side, pry out vent/gauge trimpanel to release eighteen (18) clips. Disconnect hazard switch harness, then work trimpanel around steering wheel to remove (Figures 1 & 2). Vent/Gauge Trimpanel Lower Dash Trimpanel 4. Remove two (2) 10mm screws exposed by removal of vent/gauge trimpanel (Figure 3). 5. Pry down lower dash trimpanel to release clips and enough to remove two (2) 10mm screws (Figure 4). 6. 3 OEM Integration This page addresses integrating aftermarket accessories such as R CD Changers, Auxiliary Input Adaptors, ipod Adaptors, etc., with a factory radio system. 1. Remove factory radio following instructions on the previous page. 2. Follow instructions supplied with the accessory device. 3. Connect optional adaptor to input as shown. 4. IMPORTANT: Reconnect all wiring harnesses including airbag, then reconnect battery. Test operation of adaptor and reassemble dash by reversing removal steps. Rear View Factory Radio Input 3

4 Receiver Installation NOTES: Please read first Check to make sure the Crutchfield receiver wiring adaptor plugs into the vehicle receiver harness. If the Crutchfield adaptor is incorrect, please call our Technical Support Department at. A Standard DIN unit is shown. A Double-DIN receiver may also be installed following these steps. 1. Secure receiver to mounting bracket following instructions supplied with the dash kit. 2. Make wiring connections following instructions supplied with the receiver wiring adaptor received from Crutchfield. 3. Hold receiver assembly near dash. Connect receiver wiring adaptor to vehicle harness. Using the antenna adaptor, plug antenna lead into rear of receiver. Receiver Assembly 4. Slide assembly into dash and secure with screws previously removed. 5. IMPORTANT: Reconnect all wiring harnesses including airbag, then reconnect battery. Test operation and reassemble dash by reversing removal steps. 4

5 Corner Dash Speakers NOTES: Please read first Instructions show factory size speakers or speakers with adaptor brackets only. Cutting or fabrication (not shown) will be required for other speaker sizes. IMPORTANT No speaker wiring adaptor is available at this time from Crutchfield for this speaker location. It will be necessary to splice wires in order to install an aftermarket speaker. FIGURE 1 FIGURE 4 1. Starting at the top edge, pry out pillar trimpanel to release clip. Using needle-nose pliers, twist retainer strap to release. Pull trimpanel upward to remove (Figures 1 & 2). Pillar Trimpanel 2. Repeat step one for the opposite side. 3. Pry up dash grille/defroster panel to release clips. Disconnect wiring harness and remove (Figures 3 & 4). FIGURE 2 4. Remove two (2) 10mm screws securing speaker. Pull out speaker, disconnect and remove (Figure 5). FIGURE 5 5. Make wiring connections following instructions on page 14. Return to this page to complete installation. 6. Remove two (2) 10mm screws securing speaker. Pull out speaker, disconnect and remove. 3. Make wiring connections following instructions on page 14. Return to this page to complete installation. 4. Secure speaker to location with screws previously removed. 5. Test speaker operation and reassemble by reversing disassembly steps. 6

Cutting or fabrication (not shown) will be required for other speaker sizes. 1. Starting at the top edge, pry out sail panel to release one (1) clip and remove (Figure 1). FIGURE 4 2. Remove one (1) retaining clip on front edge of door panel by pressing in center pin, then prying out clip (Figure 2). 3. Pry out screw cover behind door release and remove one (1) exposed phillips screw (Figure 3). 4. Remove one (1) phillips screw and bumper on rear edge of door panel (Figure 4). 5. 8 Front Door Speakers (continued) 6. Remove two (2) phillips screws exposed by removal of power options switch panel (Figures 6 & 7). FIGURE 6 7. Pry out sides and bottom of door panel to release nine (9) clips. Disconnect wiring harness, door lock and release cables. Remove panel (Figures 8 & 9). 8. Remove four (4) 10mm screws securing speaker. Pull out speaker, disconnect and remove (Figure 10). 9. Secure new speaker to adaptor bracket. 10. Connect speaker wiring adaptor of replacement speaker to vehicle speaker harness. Secure speaker/bracket assembly to location. 11. Test speaker operation and reinstall door panel by reversing removal steps. 10 Rear Door Speakers (continued) 5. Pry out sides and bottom of door panel to release seven (7) clips. Disconnect wiring harness, door lock and release cables. Remove panel (Figures 6 & 7). FIGURE 5 6. Remove three (3) phillips screws securing factory speaker/bracket assembly. Pull out assembly, disconnect and remove (Figure 8). 7. Remove two (2) phillips screws securing speaker to bracket (Figure 9). 8. Secure new speaker to factory bracket with screws previously removed. 9. Make wiring connections following instructions on page 14. Return to this page to complete installation. 10. Secure speaker/bracket assembly to location. 11. 11 Rear Deck Woofers NOTES: Please read first Instructions show factory size speakers or speakers with adaptor brackets only. Cutting or fabrication (not shown) will be required for other speaker sizes. 1. Disconnect negative battery cable. 2. Pull up front edge of rear seat bottom cushion to release two (2) clips and remove cushion (Figure 1). (1 of 4 bolts shown) 3. Remove four (4) 12mm bolts along bottom edge of rear seat back (Figure 2). 4. Work seat belts through slots in seat belt retainers in rear seat back (Figure 3). FIGURE 1 FIGURE 2 5. Lift rear seat back to clear three (3) hooks securing top edge. Disconnect airbag harnesses, then remove rear seat back (Figure 4). Seat Belt Retainer 6. Pull rear door gasket away from body along rear pillar (Figure 5). 7. Pry up door scuff plate to release clips and remove (Figure 6). Continued on the next page. 12 Rear Deck Woofers (continued) 8. Pry off lower seat side trim to release clips. Pry off airbag harness clip, then remove trimpanel (Figure 7). 9. Pry off rear pillar trimpanel to release clips. Pull panel toward front of vehicle to remove (Figure 8). 10. Repeat steps 6-9 for the opposite side. 11. Disconnect third brake light harness (Figure 9). FIGURE 7 Lower Seat Side Trim FIGURE 10 Rear Deck Panel 12. Pry up rear deck panel to release four (4) clips. Pull panel toward front of vehicle and set panel down (Figure 10). Note: Seat belts remain in panel. Disconnect speaker wiring harness if vehicle is equipped with tweeters. 13. Remove four (4) 10mm screws securing speaker. Pull out speaker, disconnect and remove (Figure 11). 14. Secure new speaker to adaptor bracket. Place speaker/bracket assembly in location and mark new mounting holes. Remove assembly and drill holes with a 1/8 bit. 15. Connect speaker wiring adaptor of replacement speaker to vehicle speaker harness. Secure speaker/bracket assembly to location. 16. Connect airbag wiring harness and reconnect battery. 17. Test speaker operation and reassemble rear of vehicle by reversing removal steps. Make sure brake light and airbag wiring harnesses are connected. FIGURE 11 Standard Speaker shown. JBL-Equipped speakers are mounted the same way. CAUTION: Always be careful when drilling or cutting in a vehicle. WEAR EYE PROTECTION. Be aware of things such as wiring, windows, fuel lines and safety devices. Check depth and location to avoid damage to vehicle appearance. 12

13 Rear Deck Tweeters NOTES: Please read first Instructions show factory size speakers or speakers with adaptor brackets only. Cutting or fabrication (not shown) will be required for other speaker sizes. IMPORTANT No speaker wiring adaptor is available at this time from Crutchfield for this speaker location. It will be necessary to splice wires in order to install an aftermarket speaker. No speaker adaptor bracket is available at this time for this location. A mounting bracket must be fabricated in order to install an aftermarket speaker. It is possible that the replacement speakers do not have screws supplied. It may be necessary to acquire mounting hardware. 1. Follow steps 1-12 on pages 11 and 12 to remove the rear deck panel. Return to this page to complete installation. 2. Remove three (3) phillips screws securing speaker/bracket assembly to bottom of rear deck panel. Lift assembly, disconnect and remove. 3. Fabricate a speaker mounting bracket and secure speaker to bracket. 4. Make wiring connections following instructions on page 14. Return to this page to complete installation. SAFETY CHECK 5. Secure speaker/bracket assembly to location. Make sure seats and seat belts are secured to manufacturer s specifications. Make sure brake light and airbag wiring harnesses are connected. 6. Connect airbag wiring harness and reconnect battery. 7. Test speaker operation and reassemble rear of vehicle by reversing removal steps. 13

14 Wire Splicing Guide These methods can be used to make wiring connections if no receiver or speaker wiring adaptor is available. CRIMP METHOD Factory harness is removed. Save harness if it is to be reconnected in the future by this method. SOLDER METHOD New speaker wires are spliced into factory wires behind harness. 1. Cut factory wires behind factory speaker harness. 2. Strip end of each wire back 1/2. 1. Carefully strip out a 1/2 section on each factory speaker wire behind the factory speaker harness. Factory Wires 2. Twist wires from new speaker to stripped sections of factory wires as shown making sure polarity is correct. Strip Out 1/2 Negative Wires New Wires Positive Wires Twist each positive pair of wires together and insert in crimp cap. Repeat step for negative wires. Factory Wire 4. Squeeze middle of cap for tight connection. 5. Connect new wires to speaker with spade connectors. 3. Heat wires first with soldering iron, then touch solder to wires for solid connections Last - - First Wrap wiring connections with electrical tape. 5.
