4 Optional Wires to be plugged into the ulkhead onnect If you have any of the following, plug these wires into the ngine arness 14-way ulkhead onnect (see pages 1-3) first: lectric hoke, plug in the loose tan LTRI OK wire (circuit 39). lectric Speedometer, plug in the loose VSS ROU (circuit 400), the loose VSS SIL (circuit 401), and the loose / VSS POWR (circuit 402) wires. Temparily plug the ngine arness 14-way ulkhead onnect into the mating ulkhead onnect of the ash arness (located in the center of the Firewall) befe routing and connecting any of the wires. The ngine arness ulkhead onnect will need to be removed from the ash arness ulkhead onnect later after routing and attaching all of the wires, and will be snapped into the Front Light arness ulkhead onnect. 1. ack-up Lights Manual Transmission F the vehicles, the ack-up Switch is located on the Transmission. Obtain the thin 12V IITIO wire (circuit 39) and the light green K UP LT SW --> LITS wire (circuit 24) from the 14-way ulkhead onnect in the ngine arness ag, and route these wires to the ack-up Light Switch (see pages 1 and 2). Wire ol Printing Wire umber Pink 12V IITIO 39 Light reen K UP LT SW --> LITS ackup Lights/eutral Safety Switch utomatic Transmission F the 198 vehicles, the ack-up Light Switch is located inside the vehicle on the Shifter (see the ash arness Instructions f this connection). Since the and light green ack-up Switch wires are in the ash arness as well as the ngine arness, you will not use the (circuit 39) and light green (circuit 24) wires in the ngine Kit. Remove these two wires stow them away. The eutral Safety Switch is located on the Transmission and it is a single pin switch. Obtain Pigtail Q with the black, no printing wire, (circuit 155) and plug the connect of pigtail Q to the Starter Relay round Terminal (see page 3). This wire will provide ground f the Starter Relay during crank. Route the black wire to the eutral Safety Switch on the transmission and connect. F the vehicles, the ack-up Light Switch and the eutral Safety Switch are combined into one 3-pin Switch which is located on the transmission. Obtain the thin 12V IITIO wire (circuit 39) and the light green K UP LT SW --> LITS wire (circuit 24) from the 14-way ulkhead onnect in the ngine arness and route these wires to the 3-pin ack-up Light Switch (see page 3) and cut to length. Obtain Pigtail Q with the black no printing wire (circuit 155) and plug the connect of pigtail Q to the Starter Relay round Terminal (see page 3). This wire will provide ground f the Starter Relay during crank. The center pin of the 3-pin ackup Light/eutral Safety Switch goes to ground in Park eutral. Route the loose end of the black wire to the 3-pin ackup Light/eutral Safety Switch on the utomatic Transmission and cut to length. Obtain a 3-wire ftermarket umper arness available f this 3-pin ackup Light/eutral Safety Switch, crimp on three terminal s to each wire of the umper arness and insert each terminal into a 1-way connect P. rimp on terminals to the light green (circuit 24), black (circuit 155), and (circuit 39) wires from the ngine Kit and insert each into a 1-way connect F. ow connect all three connects F to the umper arness. ote: the black wire (circuit 155) from the ngine Kit must be connected to the center pin ( wire) of the ackup Light Switch. onnect the light green wire (circuit 24) to the black wire and connect the wire (circuit 39) to the wire of the ftermarket umper arness. 5 3. lutch Interlock Switch F the 190 vehicles with a Manual Transmission, The lutch must be depressed befe you can crank the ngine. To accomplish this, the ground terminal on the Starter Relay goes to ground through a wire that connects to a lutch Interlock Switch on the lutch Pedal. Obtain the pigtail Q with the black no printing wire (circuit 155) and connect the 1-way connect of this pigtail to the ground terminal of the Starter Relay (see page 2). Route the black wire to the ngine ulkhead onnect and cut to length. rimp on terminal and plug into the ulkhead onnect (unplug the ulkhead connects to plug in terminal and then make sure that terminal is fully seated and then, reconnect the ulkhead onnects). ote: f the vehicles with a Manual Transmission, there is a unique Starter Relay that does not have a ground terminal on the relay and there is no lutch Interlock Switch on the lutch Pedal. Pigtail Q will not be used f these vehicles (see Page 1). Wire ol Printing Wire umber lack no printing Main Fuse Panel Feed Obtain the large 12V TTRY wire (circuit 2. This wire is already plugged into the ulkhead onnect) and route to the MegaFuse supplied with the 5104 kit, cut to length, install ring terminal and shrink tube. onnect as shown. (see pages 1-3). Wire ol Printing Wire umber Red 12V TTRY 2 5. Starter Relay to Starter Solenoid Obtain the large Starter Solenoid Feed pigtail S and attach the ring terminal to the Solenoid SOL terminal of the Starter Relay (see pages 1-3). Route this, STRTR SOLOI S wire (circuit ) to the Starter, cut to length, slide on sleeve and crimp on ring terminal. onnect this ring terminal to the Solenoid Stud of the Starter. Wire ol Printing Wire umber Purple STRTR SOLOI-S. Ignition Start Wire Obtain the no printing (circuit 5) wire that is already plugged into the ulkhead onnect, this is your start circuit. Route the wire to the Starter Relay and cut to length, crimp on terminal and plug into connect. onnect this wire to the Ignition terminal I of the Starter Relay (see pages 1-3). Wire ol Printing Wire umber Yellow no printing 5. lternat Output Power Use the ga wire, MegaFuse, ring terninals, and shrink tube from the 5104 kit. ttach one end to the megafuses, route from there the to the alternat, cut to length, apply ring terminal and boot and attach to the lternat output stud. (see pages 1-3). Wire ol Printing Wire umber Red no printing 2 8. Ignition oil with Full Voltage If using an ftermarket Ignition System an I istribut which requires a full 12 volt feed, route the large IITIO F wire (circuit 3) from the ulkhead onnect to the positive (+) side of the Ignition oil (see pages 1-3) and cut to length. Route the no printing wire (circuit ), also from the ulkhead onnect, to the positive (+) side of the Ignition oil and cut to length. This wire provides voltage during crank. Ignition oil with Reduced Voltage If using a points type Ignition System that requires uced voltage, route the large IITIO F wire (circuit 3), from the ulkhead onnect, to the Ignition feed side (see pages 1-3) of a allast Resist (not provided in this kit), cut to length, and crimp on terminal and plug into connect. Route the no printing wire (circuit ), from the ulkhead onnect, to the coil side of the allast Resist and double it with the cut off ption of the large wire, crimp on terminal and plug into connect. This wire provides voltage during crank. Route the other end of the large wire to the positive (+) side of the Ignition oil and cut to length. Terminals L and M have been provided to make the connection to the Ignition oil. Wire ol Printing Wire umber Pink IITIO F 3 rown no printing 10. lectric hoke F vehicles equipped with an lectric hoke, if you haven t already, obtain the tan LTRI OK wire (circuit 39) and plug it into the ulkhead onnect. Route the tan wire to the lectric hoke, cut to length, install terminal and insert into connect F. You can now connect to the lectric hoke (see pages 1-3). Wire ol Printing Wire umber Tan LTRI OK Water Temp Sender Obtain the dark green WTR TMP SR WIR (circuit 35) which is already plugged into the ulkhead connect. Route this wire to the Water Temperature Sender, cut to length, install terminals (install sleeve first if using terminal ), plug into connect (if using terminal ) and connect to the Water Temperature Sender (see pages 1-3). Wire ol Printing Wire umber ark reen WTR TMP SR Oil Pressure Sender Obtain the dark blue OIL PRSSUR SR wire (circuit 31) which is already plugged into the ulkhead connect. Route this wire to the Oil Pressure Sender, cut to length, install terminals (install sleeve first if using terminal ), plug into connect (if using terminal ) and connect to the Oil Pressure Sender (see pages 1-3). Wire ol Printing Wire umber ark lue OIL PRSSUR SR Tachometer Signal Obtain the OIL --> T wire (circuit ) which is already plugged into the ulkhead onnect, route to the negative (-) side of the Ignition oil and connect. If using an ftermarket Ignition System an I istribut, connect per the Manufacturer s recommendations (see pages 1-3). Wire ol Printing Wire umber White OIL --> T 14. lectric Speedometer OT: These three wires are only used if you are using an lectronic Speedometer. If you haven t already, obtain the / VSS POWR wire (circuit 402), the VSS SIL wire (circuit 401) and the VSS ROU wire (circuit 400) and plug these wires into the ulkhead onnect. Route these three wires to the Vehicle Speed Sens and connect the / wire to the VSS power lead, the wire to the VSS signal lead, and the wire to the VSS ground lead (see pages 1-3). Wire ol Printing Wire umber Purple/White VSS POWR 402 Purple VSS SIL 401 Yellow VSS ROU 400 OT: Once the ulkhead onnect has had all of its wires plugged in, the connect cavities should be sealed with dielectric grease on the terminals. lso to assure a moisture resistant seal, silicone can be applied to seal the outside of the connect.
