11 Model F-4000 Specifications Description The Falcon model F-4000 is a vitreous china wall hung, wall outlet waterfree urinal. It requires no flush valve or water supply, and plumbs to standard drain connections. The F-4000 utilizes a replaceable sealed locking cartridge, with bayonet tabs, is made of recyclable ABS plastic and utilizes a 100% biodegradable liquid sealant. Housing The factory installed housing is comprised of a bowl with a tailpiece and a mounting flange of 316 Stainless Steel. It is sealed into the bowl drain opening by a profile gasket made of a synthetic rubber. The housing and gasket are compressed into the drain opening by the installation of a retaining nut, and a friction washer. Cartridge kit The patented cartridge is engineered to last an average of three to four months in typical installations and to receive urine through drain holes. Urine passes through an immiscible layer of biodgradable sealant, continues through a siphon trap system, and flows out through a baffle to prevent the loss of sealant. A discharge tube in the housing directs the flow of urine into the building drain system. The cartridge is designed as a replaceable component when its function has been exhausted. Drain Coupler The housing is connected to the building drain system by means of the Falcon Uni-coupler. The coupler conforms to NSF 14 for plastic pipes and fittings. It is designed to be used in both retrofit and new installations. It offers a variety of configurations which allow it to couple to most existing drain openings. Drain Connection and Material Installs on standard 2-inch drain connections with spud flange or threaded nipple. Suitable DWV materials include cast iron, galvanized steel, ABS, and PVC. Recessed design prevents accidents which are common to surfacemounted or protruding hose valves. Hose Box is a one piece cast construction and is furnished with two stainless steel angles for anchoring to the wall construction. Hose box has a built-in drip lip. Wall flange is cast aluminum with prime coat finish. Door is an exclusive wedgelock design with recessed cam lock. When in the fully opened position, it will remain up and out of the way. Valve and Stop Body is cast bronze with exposed parts chrome-plated. Valve and Stop feature tamper-resistant lockshield bonnet and replaceable cartridge containing all wearing parts including the seat. The body casting is gasketed where it joins the box and is securely anchored with stainless steel tamper-resistant screws. Supply inlet is 3/4 NPT female. Outlet is 3/4 male hose thread. FUNCTION AND DESCRIPTION: MIFAB s M-500 Series of pressure activated trap seal primers (MR-500, M1-500 and M2-500) can be connected to any cold water line, and will be automatically activated when a valve or faucet, that is on the line, is opened. A pressure drop of three p.s.i. will activate all of the trap seal primers. MIFAB s M-500 Series of trap seal primers can be disassembled in the field. Their unique design permits filter replacement without affecting the performance of the primer. The O ring seals are tested for reliability at a temperature range of -40 degrees to 450 degrees F. The M-500 Series of trap seal primers do not require adjustment. The opening range for all of MIFAB s M-500 Series of trap seal primers is 20 to 125 p.s.i. 23 Location: INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: An 1 1/8 open end wrench should be used to install the M-500 Series of trap seal primers to the line by using the flats on the top of the trap seal primer. Water lines must be flushed before installing MIFAB s M-500 Series of trap seal primers. The trap seal primers should be cycled at least six times to ensure optimum performance. Ensure that all flux and other debris is removed. Use only teflon tape around threads. Do not use pipe dope. Do not solder fittings directly onto the inlet or outlet of the primer. Failure to follow these instructions will negatively affect performance of the product. MIFAB s primers have a unique design which allows the primer to be taken apart and cleaned before re-assembly. Do this in the event of excess water discharge. Do not install the trap seal primers closer than forty feet apart when using the same potable water supply line. The device should be located within 20 of the valve or faucet for optimal discharge. Trap seal primers should be mounted one foot above the finished floor for every twenty feet of floor drain trap make-up water line. For easy access to the trap seal primer, install a union connection above it. Install a line shut off valve upstream of the trap seal primer in order to shut off the water supply when performing maintenance on the trap seal primer. INSPECTION INSTRUCTIONS: After installing and pre-cycling the trap seal primer, use any of the four holes to view water discharge from the orifice. A light can be placed opposite the observed view hole to improve clarity in this inspection. MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS: In order to replace the filter screen, remove the trap seal primer by using an open end wrench on the top set of flats. Grasp the top of the filter screen with fingers, squeeze and remove the filter. Insert the new filter screen by squeezing and pushing it firmly down into the top of the trap seal primer. Re-install the trap seal primer using the top set of flats. In regions that experience heavy residual deposits such as calcium in the water supply, MIFAB s M-500 Series of trap seal primers can be field refurbished by removing the bottom end of the primer and replacing the cartridge Page 21 of 28

24 Location: Trap Seal Primer Troubleshooting Following are some things to trouble shoot when it comes to our M-500 Series of Trap Seal Primers (M1-500, M2-500, M-500). 1) What is the line pressure for the Installation? The M-500 Series will work in 35-80psi. 2) How far away is the trap seal primer from the source of the pressure drop? Anything farther away than 20 feet is an issue, as the farther the primer is away from the source of the pressure drop, the less likely it will sense it and work. 3) What is the pressure drop where the primer is? MIFAB s M-500 Series of primers will work with as little as 3 psi in pressure drop. With today's low flow and consumption faucets, there is less pressure drop being created when the faucets and toilets are used. 4) Water hammer arrestors on the line can also affect pressure drop in the line. It would be best to get a pressure reading where the trap primer is installed. The M-500 series needs a fast, sharp pressure drop to activate. The long pipe run to the trap primer and the water hammer arrestor may not be allowing the trap primer to function properly. 5) Look at the gauge fluctuation Is it a quick and sharp pressure drop? Or did it gradually drop? The trap primers need a quick pressure drop to activate. A slow gradual pressure drop may not be enough to activate the M-500. That is why we state that they should be as close to the pressure drop source as possible. The M1-500 has the most buoyant cartridge and should perform the best. If the trap primer looked good and was filled with water then it is the rate of the pressure drop that is causing the issue.
