Purpose The purpose of this Instructions for Continued Airworthiness Supplement is to provide the maintenance technician with the information necessary to ensure the correct functionality and performance of the Aileron Pulley Shield installation on the Cessna Model This supplemental document is designed to satisfy the required 14 CFR Instructions for Continued Airworthiness requirements associated with this installation. This document is a supplement to the Model 510 Maintenance Manual and may or may not be incorporated If this information is incorporated into the Model 510 Maintenance Manual, the maintenance manual shall take precedence over this supplemental document. Refer to the application ATA chapter and section of the respective Maintenance Manual for the status of all ICA Supplements applicable to your model. NOTE: This document must be placed with the aircraft operator s Technical Library CD- ROM or Maintenance Manual and incorporated into the operator s scheduled maintenance program.

Effectivity This Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA) supplement are effective for the following aircraft model(s) and serialization where this Aileron Pulley Shield is installed: Beginning Ending Model Effectivity Effectivity and On Table 1 Installation ICA Effectivity 2.2. Complete ICA Documents The following document(s), in conjunction with this supplement, constitute the Instructions for Continued Airworthiness for the Aileron Pulley Shield. All items must be available to the operator at initial delivery. None.

7 Cessna Aircraft Company Page 3 3. DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION 3.1. Description The Aileron Pulley Shield provides protection from the environment for a set of two lowfriction pulleys used in the operation of the outboard aileron control system. It is located on the aft side of the rear wing spar, near the aileron pushrod. LH and RH installations are opposite each other Operation The Aileron Pulley Shield prevents moisture from collecting on the set of pulleys that it covers. Collected moisture has the potential to freeze, and inhibit operation of the aileron system Aircraft Wiring No wiring systems are affected by this component.

8 Cessna Aircraft Company Page 4 4. MAINTENANCE AND SPECIAL TOOLS 4.1. Maintenance Aileron Pulley Shield This component requires no special maintenance. If sealant touch-up is necessary, Table 2 gives a list of the special tools and equipment that is used to complete the maintenance procedures given in this section System Wiring Refer to the Wiring Diagram Manual, Chapter 20, Standard Practices, for wiring maintenance requirements and practices. No modifications to the wiring will need to be made for the maintenance of the Aileron Pulley Shield. 9 Cessna Aircraft Company Page 5 5. TESTING, RETURN TO SERVICE AND TROUBLESHOOTING 5.1. Adjustment/Test A No Adjustment/Test required for the Pulley Shield itself. If the cable fairlead located on the Pulley Shield is replaced, cable tension must be loosened (see below). Return the aileron control system to operating condition per Chapter 27 of the 510 Maintenance Manual, Aileron and Tab Control System Adjustment/Test Inspection/Check A This component incorporates a cable fairlead similar to those found along the trailing edge of the wing. The control cable itself will be inspected during the existing Aileron System Detailed Inspection. (Reference Chapter 05 of the 510 Maintenance Manual, Inspection Time Limits) The following should be performed at inspection interval 1A (450 hours) during Task Flight Control Cable Guide, Fairlead, and Aileron Sector General Visual Inspection. (Reference Chapter 05 of the 510 Maintenance Manual, Inspection Time Limits) Complete a Visual Inspection of the Aileron Pulley Shield. NOTE: The following is opposite for the left and right wings. (Refer to Figure 1 Additional images for the aileron control system can be found in the Maintenance Manual & Illustrated Parts List) Examine the items that follow: 1. Make sure that the inboard closeout drain hole found adjacent to the rear spar is clear of blockage and sealant. 2. Other than the drain hole, make sure that the periphery of the Pulley Shield Instl, LH and Pulley Shield Instl, RH is sealed and in good condition to prevent water from entering the shielded area. If it is not, use the sealant listed in Table 2 to seal all joints and gaps around the Pulley Shield, keeping the drain hole open. (Refer to Chapter 20 of the 510 Maintenance Manual, Fuel, Weather, Pressure and High-Temperature Sealing Maintenance Practices). 3. Examine the fairlead on the inboard side of the Aileron Pulley Shield, as well as the cables that run through the Pulley Shield, for damage or unusual wear. If necessary to replace the fairlead, the following can be performed:

10 Cessna Aircraft Company Page 6 (a) Remove wing access panels 532DB left, and 632DB right, to get access to the aileron wing sector. (Refer to Chapter 6 of the 510 Maintenance Manual, Access Plates and Panels Identification Description and Operation) (b) Use the flap control handle in the cockpit to lower the wing flaps, to provide access to the control cable turnbuckles. (c) Remove the clips from the turnbuckles in the aileron wing control cables. (Refer to Chapter 20 of the 510 Maintenance Manual, Safetying Maintenance Practices) (d) Loosen the turnbuckles on the aileron wing control cables, located along trailing edge. (e) Remove the cotter pin, nut, washer, and bolt on the center of the two pulleys. (f) Remove the two pulleys. The pulleys are installed directly on top of each other, and will slide out of the mounting brackets at the same time. (g) Remove both S339-1 Clips and both Fairlead Halves. (h) Install two new S339-1 Clips and two Fairlead Halves. NOTE: The space on the inside of the Aileron Pulley Shield is tight, but this can be done from the lower wing access panels that have been removed, and placing the two fairlead halves around the cables while they are loose, keeping the fairlead halves together with a length of wire. The wire can then be used to pull the fairlead through the fairlead hole. At this point, the clips can be installed, and the wire removed. (i) Reinstall the pulleys and return the cables to original configuration. (Refer to Chapter 27 of the 510 Maintenance Manual, Aileron and Tab Control System Maintenance Practices, Aileron Control Cable Removal/Installation) 5.3. Troubleshooting For troubleshooting the aileron system, refer to Chapter 27 of the 510 Maintenance Manual, Aileron and Tab Control System Troubleshooting.

Limitations and Replacement Intervals Cessna Aircraft Company Model 510 Maintenance Manual, Chapter 4, Airworthiness Limitations, contains the system and airframe limitations for the Model 510. NOTE: The Airworthiness Limitations section is FAA-approved and specifies maintenance required under Section and of Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations, unless an alternative program has been FAA approved. This system has no mandatory replacement time, inspection interval, or structural inspection procedures, and has no impact on Cessna Aircraft Company Model 510 Maintenance Manual, Chapter 4 Airworthiness Limitations Mandatory replacement times. 1.
